This is my first course and I am really serious about improving my design and being a great designer at some point. For a first course I am really happy with how this ended up! Please try it out if it looks interesting to you and post some feedback. I am willing to take all feedback as long as it is actually constructive. Rolling Pastures CC is a par 72 (36/36). A slightly claustrophobic front nine will have you wishing for good swing pace. The back nine opens up more but you still want to be careful depending on the wind! Take a minute to evaluate your shot on some of these holes because there might just be another path you can take that will give you an advantage. Search "Rolling Pastures CC" to find the course. Below are some images of some signature holes. Hole #3 Par 5Hole #6 Par 3Hole #14 Par 5Hole #15 Par 4Hole #18 Par 4Thank you for playing! I'm really looking forward to your feedback!

For a first course, this is seriously impressive. With a name like Rolling Pastures, you got the elevation spot on, nothing extreme but noticeable enough to fit in with the theme. The narrow fairways on a couple of the holes on the front 9 were also well done, narrow fairways like that are difficult to do with out seeming unfair but you got it right. My only complaint would be the third hole, the trees blocking the green just did not work for me, a make able par 5 should have clearer sight lines. I know there is a gap but it felt out of place and not natural. The water behind the trees is enough in my opinion to give players thought without the need for the trees. Outside that though, I throughly enjoyed my round, some fantastic golf holes on this course and am looking forward to seeing more from you in the future.

Great job for a 1st course. I loved the planting and the layout, as hmammoth said the narrow fairways play fair enough what I would have liked tho is a bit more creativity, they seem to be the same width from start to finish. True about the 3rd hole the Trees were punishing for no reason. I also found the T boxes to be inconsistent in size, one thing I do if I am creating my own is use the measuring tool to make sure they are equal. Also the planting in front of one of the Tee boxes (cant remember which) kind of partially blocked the view of the FW. The par 3 13th is a beauty I would have lowered the land in front of the Tee area a bit more to show off that green. I liked the retaining wall on the 6th, never my forte so koodos on attempting a wall on 1st course One last thing and this is my own opinion I found the course to be a bit on the dark side, I think you used fog or haze and with the course being heavily Treed it just made it too dark. Other than that, awesome job on a 1st course sure makes my 1st course look like garbage can't wait to see your 2nd, cheers....

First of all, thank you so much for the feedback. Looking back I definitely agree about the trees on #3. I planted those at first with the intention of it being a 3 shot par 5, but realized you can make it over with a 3 wood with no headwind. But I really just liked the look so I left it and just took that knowledge forward. Thank you!

These are things that I hope to improve on my next course. As for the creativity, that is something I struggled with. I created this course in 6 days so sometimes I wouldn't have a firm idea for a hole and just would see where I went with it. Now though I am taking much more time per hole on my next course and I hope it's even better!

Just looking at the pictures, I can tell it's a very polished first effort. You'll want to use shadows as your friend...so carefully plan where to put trees, and what is the appropriate height. You'll want to avoid shadows over tees, cups, and over the bulk of greens. Glad to have another designer in the fold!

I’ve never understood why there shouldn’t be shadows on greens or tee’s? It removes a lot of possibilities as far as I can see. I know I’ve played lots of courses IRL that have them, particularly around tees to frame it.
Anyway, I’m not a designer so not sure why it’s a thing.
Looks like a cracker, will jump in and have a hit later today 👌🏻

Hole 11 pin 2 doesn’t meet the 9-box rule
Really enjoyed the course
edit: several pins don’t meet it

Hole 11 pin 2 doesn’t meet the 9-box rule Really enjoyed the course edit: several pins don’t meet it I'm not aware of this rule, what is it? Also, thank you for playing it. Basically, there can’t be any yellow or red in the 9 boxes surrounding the pin location (think of it as the pin is in the center of a tic-tac-toe grid). Any yellow or red makes the pin overly severe. Well done on the course, again I enjoyed playing it.

Very enjoyable course and for it being your first course and being so new to the game makes it super impressive. The quality we are seeing from new designers is astounding, I think it's due to all the great tutorials out by the design community.
I think this would play nicely as a CC-Am course but a few things would need to be adjusted. As someone else mentioned there are a few holes that have pins that have too much slope too close to pins to follow TGC Tours guidelines. There was also one pin (I played pinset 1) that I noticed a large area of green that was perfectly flat. Complete nitpick but adding just a little bit of slope there would improve that green.
And one minor nitpick I had was all the tees on a tee box being in a perfectly straight line just didn't look right to my eye. Just some slightly imperfection in the line they are set in adds to the realistic look and play of your course.

Great 1st effort. As so many have already pointed out in this thread, you're showing a lot of promise as a course designer if this level of quality is your very first example! You're getting lots of great feedback and advice already, but I think we'll put this on TGC Course Review next Thursday, May 2, and do a live runthrough of this great course on our show! We will be having an experienced course designer as a guest host as well (to be named later), so should be some great feedback and critiques for you. Fantastic job! Looking forward to your future designs!
