Hey all:
I am almost finished my second course for TGC 2019 (first is The Rouxgaroux). I attempted to design around a "significant feature" that would be visible from much of the course. I took inspiration from the Lake Lawn flood of 1982 in Estes Park, CO. and the alluvial fan it formed (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lawn_Lake_Dam). To be clear, this is NOT a RCR, just real-life inspired. On this course you will see a front 9 in the meadows will a full vantage point of the newly formed falls and deposits at their base. The back 9 will wind into the mountainside and tree canopy, ending at the base of the falls. There is a lot of elevation change on the back. I have actually published a beta for exploration by anyone interested -- Alluvial 82 G.C.
The Swiss theme/mountain concept is a difficult one for me. I would love feedback and suggestions. Also, I'm have been curious as to how collaborations work and wonder if its even possible on ps4. I'd love another designer to pick this one up and put their tweaks on it. Or, I'd just be interested in a collaboration from scratch (but I digress...)
Prior to submitting to TGC Tours, I'm hoping to hear from others about the beta version. I have some FPS issues on 11 and 14 particularly and can't seem to remedy them without significantly detracting from the holes/course. Below are some screenshots and descriptions.
Front 9 is largely free of trees... open, rocky, rolling meadows with lots of scrub brush
Back 9 moves into the woods and climbs up the hill side next to the falls... long switchbacks on the cart path up to 12!
This is one of my favorite holes... a long downhill par 5 that can layup or carry over a cleared forest area off the tee. Right is off the cliff!
Course ends with a long downhill par 4 to the base of the falls and alluvial fan... this was originally an easy par 5 but decided to go with a hard par 4 to close. You have to make a choice based on wind with a two-tiered fairway landing area and will likely need long I or hybrid into a large, accepting green.
Thanks again, everyone!
