Haven't quite finished yet. Stinking the place up anyway, but just want to leave this image here as I flopped this shot from 99 + 4 feet up as I could not reach the hole with my putter. I had one in round 4 on the Sitwell 6th that I knew was impossible to get to the hole, but it was under 100ft (80something I think), so I had to putt. Knew it was going to end up rolling back towards me, then off the front edge, which it did. Made a killer 15ish ft putt to save my bogey. That green was always going to be an issue if anyone didn't reach the correct tier, and the way pin 4 played into the wind, it was just a recipe for disaster.
I do agree, though, that we should consider adding an amendment to the no-chipping rule when inside 100ft if the putting marker distance is maxed out - i.e., you are unable to hit it harder than max, and that would be the required power needed to reach the hole.

I've always done it if the putter won't reach... and will continue to do so - just content myself that it's morally OK, but would happily take the DQ on the chin if it ever got pulled up.
When I say always done it... it's happened exactly once... in nearly 4 years on tour.

Agreed the chipping in greens rule need to be re-addressed.’We played a horrendous course on Web last week with tiers that were impossible to hit down without it going off the green and 30m away. (I confirmed it later by hitting to the correct tier, hitting a putt up the slope to almost the top, and the ball still rolled off the green behind me to 30m, showing that no matter how slowly it went over the crest, it was impossible to stop). Hardly a fair result for a shot that barely misses the correct tier and is on the green. A difficult first putt is fine, but when there’s no way to stop it, even when it rolls over the hole then it’s ridiculous. Given that courses like these are being scheduled and stood behind by the people that choose them, being allowed to chip on the greens would give an option to keep it on the green. Chipping doesn’t have the ease that it had in TGC1, I think it’s time to revisit the issue, it’s not like it’s that common an occurance.

Lol, it should be changed to no putting from the fringe. I despise chipping and flopping

Lol, it should be changed to no putting from the fringe. I despise chipping and flopping Yeah but those ones where there’s a bit of fairway to cover are bastards, sometimes they stop, other times it’s like the whole putt was on the green. With flops I just aim short right knowing I’m going to get a fast fast. I miss my flops...

I finished at -45 barring any DQ for the flop on the green.
I thought that the course was very good, interestingly set up and different from the norm for sure.
As well as I putted last week was about as badly as I putted this week: I just couldn't get to grips with the greens here. I would have preferred the greens to be a little quicker as I seem to struggle on slower surfaces most of the time: the 100 foot putt issue wouldn't come into play on such huge greens if they were faster too.
To be honest, I never hit it well enough or played smart enough to get a W this week; but I really should have gone lower with the chances that I had nonetheless.
Good luck all still to finish
I know that I said I putted poorly, but I did hole this absolute beaut on the extremely difficult 11th in round one. I had to hit a fast/fast driver off the tee, then a fast/fast driver just to reach the green in two.

Round 2 in at -14! 😏😏
-27 after 2. 😊😊
I'm shocked. That's about all I can say. I've absolutely given up on any semblance of a "straight-ish" swing. I've went to playing quick again and not allowing myself to over think a damn thing. This motto goes for my putts as well. Look at it and hit it. I'm also like that IRL. 😁😁
Played extremely well and putted brilliantly for once. Only missing a few I felt I should've made. However, boneheaded playing on 17 and 18 saw me take a par instead of birdies. Might come back to bite me ass. 😳😳
However, I'm hoping to keep it going in the last two rounds. Just need to keep hitting smart shots and hope to make my putts. 😊😊
Good luck all and well played. 😏😏

Probably last time I need to do this - but Jeff Day's charts are fine - much worse than those of you that would question him. Carry on.

Gotta love Doyley's understated dramabombs lol
On the subject of charts, Jeff very kindly produced some results for my attempted wild Les Sangster style swings in the Euro event, all blind so I didn't show the screenshots until after the api numbers.
The positive coming from this is that I have had my faith in the API restored, but only for normal shots that don't have sudden direction changes, which is fortunately the vast majority of all our shots. For the seriously wonky swings, it was way off. In one case, it couldn't have been any more wrong - a swing line wildly left of the cone which the api recorded as wildly right of the cone. The ones with several different directions out of the cone both sides may as well have been guesswork on the api's part, basically no correlation at all. But the one which I gave which was a dummy straight-ish one, came back as straight-ish. So it works for normal swings.
I should also add that if the in-game ball flight from those crazy swings went right when I expected the ball to go left, the api also recorded them as going right. In other words, no contradictions at all between the api and the ball flight. The swing line didn't match for those crazy swings, but the api and the ball flight matched every time. So there should be no concern whatsoever about straight ball flights that fool the api into thinking they were offline.

Like you, I’m a fast player irl too for that very reason - overthinking is my worst trait. I probably took 25mins at most when I shot that 53 earlier this year. Those are the most fun rounds, when you just get into the groove and don’t think your way out of it. Great playing!

I'd ask Doyley to show y'all my charts, but I don't want to get laughed at. 😂😂

In at -42 which is my best finish for a long time. Loved the course and the set up and consistently struck the ball well and holed some putts.
Thanks again to Justin and happy shooting 😁
