Hey Eric, how did you do the artwork for your course and the overall overhead view layout? Hi Robert, Well, it's quite a process actually, but I thought I would have some fun with the thread posts too, because I had a great time designing this course. The summary answer is that I know my way around Photoshop pretty well, so that is the program I use to make the graphics. But I'll break it into parts in the hopes that the additional detail is helpful as well. These steps might not be in order, but they are things that needed to be done at some point to make each card: -created a template .psd file in photoshop that has the dimensions I wanted each picture card to be -played my course and then hit F10 on my keyboard to go into camera mode, and then took a "glamour shot" of each hole with F12, plus some shots of other random stuff like the practice green/driving range, etc. -brought each of those 18 pictures into photoshop and cropped them to the framing I wanted for each one, and then sized them appropriately for that "window" in the white masking area -finalized the white masking layer that would be the boundary of every photo and also create the space to put the other info on each slide, saving it to the template file -"borrowed" the Mantis cartoon from a Google image, then added my own flare for the rest of the logo, and saved that to the template so that it would be in the same spot on each one -added Jeremy Mayo's Major Championship Design Challenge logo to the bottom right, and my logo as well, and saved that to the template so that they would be in the same spot on each one -went back into the course file and did another playtest, opened F10 again, zoomed WAY out for the overhead view pic, and then centered each hole to get a layout picture (pushing F12 each time for separate pics) -the most annoying part, I opened each overhead map and used a white brush with a dithered tip and traced which area of the map I wanted to show up, and then whited everything else out, then brought each one to the template -for some of the slides, I created a text box to type all of the info and saved those as layers in the template -for the scorecard, I playtested the course and opened the scorecard before I had recorded a score on the first hole, took a screenshot, then opened that in photoshop and manipulated that picture to bring it over to the template -for the course conditions, I playtested each round, took a screenshot of the conditions that come up in the lobby, then combined all 4 of them into a little graphic that I added to the template -so now, as you can imagine, the template file has a bunch of layers in it, but all you have to do is hide the layers you don't want to be seen, and then hit "save as" a .png or .jpg for each individual pic you want to create Again, sorry if that was WAY too much info, but I'm happy to help out so I wanted to give you the whole process in case it would assist in any way. There are other tremendous examples I've seen of guys doing OPs like this too. Muir Woods, Fabled Haven, and Sanhiraja are ones I can think of off the top of my head, so make sure you check out those completed course threads too.

I've just got back from a 2 week trip to the US so am only just getting a chance to play these gorgeous courses.
The Mantis a caramel sundae. It's so great to look at, sweet, moreish and makes you feel slightly sick afterwards.
Beautiful work.

Nice job Eric. Didn't hugely like the 2/3 super thin landing areas - but otherwise - a nice enjoyable relaxing round.

With all of these great courses coming out lately, it’d be a shame if you forgot about this one. 😉

Finally getting around to actually playing all the Major Contest designs, and sticking with the order that Mayday had put them up on the board. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. My favorite things - 1.) Setting behind number 9 green is fantastic, with the waterfalls, clubhouse, etc. Just the whole package there. 2.) The entire course had a setting that was completely believable, and there wasn't any "dead space" around the edges. Everything had a lot of care put into it to make the entire plot used for the setting. 3.) Extremely long. Plenty of fairway to hit it, but you had to connect with a perfect tempo, and keep it in the fairway. Strangely enough, even at 7,900 it never seemed like I was forced to hit driver/FW into a par 4 or anything, but instead just had to hit good full shots all around. 4.) The OB throughout the course was great. Very memorable feature and it's something that I remember most about the course. 5.) My near ace on hole 15. And the 3 putt from 2.5 feet that followed it. 6.) Most importantly, the very clean and smooth look of the entire course. It means not a single shot is rough on the eyes going around. Definitely a mix of the palette of Augusta and the layout/terrain of Pinehurst.
Fantastic effort, and look forward to seeing this host many events.

Thank you Dario, that means a lot coming from a designer like you that appreciates a polished design.

Did you find the areas I made for portapotties? Nobody has commented, but there are adequate facilities and trash cans for the crowds. It’s all in the details!

Ugh I was 8 inches from an albatross on 7. Put my second shot on 18 to 5 feet too.
Missed a couple very short putts but still ended up with a -12 61.

What hole are those on? If it’s a true Easter egg, feel free to not say.
