Hello Everyone!
I am newer to designing, done only one course that I designed on PS4 (pretty terrible in comparison to the stuff I see on twitch btw..) but after seeing this Lidar thing I ended up picking up the game on PC so I could take a stab at my home course in Colorado.
Riverdale Dunes is a course created by Pete Dye. It has been named one of the top 100 public courses in the US and #1 in Colorado a few times. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling to the Denver area.
Below are a few pics, I hope I can do it justice after importing and planting everything!
Skeetz - late to the party here but I just wanted to say that before moving to ATL 3 years ago, I spent the previous 7 in the Denver area.
Your recreation here is awesome.
The holes are so good, but I thought your shining stars are: 2, 8, 9, 11,14, 15-17.
-14 plays exactly as it does in real life - you can go for the green but if you tug it even the slightest you have huge trees to deal with
-15 is just an outstanding hole in real life - you've done it justice here.
-16 is great - you have the lines perfect as well as the false front with the big drop off on the right side of the green
-17 looks amazing (only thing to add is a very notable 'retaining wall' protects the hill to the left of the cart path beside the green)
Just found this a couple days ago and couldn't be happier! I always felt like the ball didn't roll out too far on the fairway - it's almost like the moisture & surrounding lakes feed the fairways. So, I actually put the course on Soft (Terrain), Very Firm (Green), Very Fast (Speed) to give it a pretty close to real life experience. I also put high winds because it's always blowing out there.
I created a pretty cool version of Fossil Trace back in TGC1 but never published it. I kind of screwed up my great work when I went back to line the fairways in light rough. Originally went with the Fairways + Heavy Rough to get the smoothed out fairways (back when TGC1 produced those jagged edges).
I don't know if LiDAR is available for Fossil Trace, but I imagine you'll get a ton of plays if you could recreate that one as well!
