So on the course I am doing now it has a distinct native area that the course is cut into and then a heavy rough area and then the fairway. Whats the best way to bring this in via OSM into the designer? You can see it on OSM map and then a IRL picture here.

I think you can map rough in OSM. You might trace the edge of the heavy rough. Not sure if it imports as heavy rough or light rough, but you can always change the texture later. That way you'll have some kind of delineation as to where you should do your native area planting.
I did this for Crystal Downs, which has very distinct mow lines, and I can confirm that using the Rough type in OSM transfers into the game. I think it came in as Light Rough, but can be easily changed in the designer to Heavy Rough.
