After playing few of the courses from the Q-School schedule in the last few days I needed to get here on the forum and critique admins course choice for the qualifying tournament. I'm kind of disappointed by some of the choices made there, especially after reading the course submission guidelines for the tour a while ago. I truly hoped that courses with "tricked up" difficulty would't find their way into the tour... but than I played Crawford Mines Golf Club and Copper Creek National for the first time Both of the courses contain many aspect which in submission guidelines are considered as "tricked up". Very often playing well aimed, precise shots on these two isnt't rewarding at all. Especially on the green. Thats all. This post of course only reflects my personal view and perception of those courses. It is obvious to me that other TGC players might have a very different view on this and I hope that with this post I didn't offend admin or the designers of the mentioned courses. I truly appreciate the hard work and effort in making any TGC course and putting TGCTours.com together. Cheers from Germany

I believe both these courses have fast/very firm greens, right now The GNCD does not offer sliders for separation of fairway and green firmness and this makes the green firmness seem tricked up, but its the only option designers have at this time
How many rounds have you played....you get used to it, hopefully patch will help this out

Maybe that wasn't enough to find the fun in playing courses with such tricked up difficulty. Also I don't think the problem lies in faulty TGCs course designer settings tbh. Imho Crawford in particular just has a poor green design on at least half of the holes. Personally at times I felt like playing mini golf on those greens, just without any miniature windmills. What suprised me the most is the fact that Crawford got 5 star approval in the review section here at TGC Tours. But than again, that is just me... I'll just try and keep hitting balls on that course, see if I can find a way to deliver acceptable score results.

The short explanation is that these courses are deliberately tough, some you could say are definitely borderline "tricky" depending on your definition of the word. We get it. We picked these courses to test the merits of everyone, even the best players in the community. We want to make Q-School incredibly grueling, because we want the get the best players with the most intestinal fortitude on the PGA and Web.com Tours. While playing these courses, please keep two things in mind: 1) there are going to be 125 PGA Tour cards and 150 Web.com cards. As of now, we have 475 members...so roughly half will be getting cards to one of the tours. It's going to be in intense battle for those last few cards, so practice is key. And 2) these courses are NOT representative of the level of difficulty you will see on either tour every week. Some weeks, yes (especially majors). But most weeks, you will see courses that are much easier. I hope you stick it out.

Yeah, the real PGA Q-school is a grueling 6 round tournament with the rough left intentionally high. They want the best for their top tour just as TGC wants the best for theirs. I probably won't get a card, but if I do, I'll know I earned it, not just had it given to me.
I'm curious, will there be a Q-School next year? Or am I thinking too far ahead?

I'm curious, will there be a Q-School next year? Or am I thinking too far ahead? For season 2 it turns into this Web.com Tour Finals (Season 2 on) PGA Tour and European Tour cards will be awarded at the end of a four-tournament series, known as the Web.com Tour Finals. Entry into this tournament will consist of the top 75% on the Web.com money list*** and those in the bottom 20% on the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup points list and those in the bottom 20% on the European Tour money list. *** Players in the top 10 on the Web.com Tour money list are included in this calculation but do not need to participate in the Web.com Tour Finals as they automatically earn a choice of PGA Tour or European Tour Card. The remaining cards will be awarded to players based on money earned during the Web.com Tour Finals. Number of cards available will be the total of PGA Tour and European Tour card holders entered minus the 10 PGA Tour cards automatically given to the top 10 on Web.com Tour money list.

What about Champions Tour members? How will they have a chance to qualify for the Web.com or PGA tour?

What about Champions Tour members? How will they have a chance to qualify for the Web.com or PGA tour? There will be a Q-school that will hand out Web.com Tour cards for Season 2. Looks like we need to add that to our site, Thanks! Full Disclosure - we've been concentrating 95% of our efforts on the tours starting up this season. I just took a few minutes to go over the rules for Q-school (Web.com version) and think we can do it justice here. So expect the TGC Tours treatment on it when it rolls around next year. Looks like it will be a 2-month process just like real life.
