Going to use this project as a kind of test, giving me the opportunity to go through an entire build, learn the LIDAR tools along the way, and work through any potential hiccups along the way. Doing this will allow me to become much, much more familiar with our new tools, basically using this as a learning process so that I am more well informed on how to go from start to finish with these before diving deep into Pasatiempo.
The course is one I played a few years back on a company trip. It's one of three courses at reunion resort (other 2 designed by Watson & Palmer), and since it's the one I have first hand experience with, it makes sense to go with this one. After an initial look at the topo data and a couple of holes worth of textures from OSM, things seem to be pretty damn spot on, so hopefully this will go fairly smoothly. I'm through 11 holes on OSM, but still plenty of work to do there. The plot size is a challenge since the course is so spread out, but that's just one of the complications I'll have to learn my way through.
Here are a couple of pics of the real course:

Cool as heck when your tracing aligns with the actual terrain once bringing in the lidar information isnt it?
This has been really cool... Now if Chad can figure out how to save the plant meter even more than he already has, BOOM....

Made good progress today, but have hit a couple of road bumps that are going to be tough to figure out. Nevertheless, pleased with how things are coming along.

I think this has mentally been one of the most drawn out designs I've ever taken on, though I realize the actual timeline is much shorter than it would have been had I done it without our new tool. The time required to clean up splines, lay out heavy rough, fix cart paths, build the environment, etc....just seems like it's taking so much longer than usual, and I think 99% of that is all of the cleanup work from what the tool imports into TGC.
Still hoping to have this done within the week, and may just get it decently presentable and publish anyway, because the important bits - playable areas, green and bunker sculpting - have largely been done since day 3.

Thanks to Chad's instructions on flattening the plot, I was able to get through all of the texturing work yesterday much quicker than expected. I still want to go through and make some sculpting touch ups, clean up the course a bit, but this one should be done hopefully today (or this weekend at the latest). Excited to get it published!

I really need to figure out this flat plot thing. It's killing me doing anything in there with the terrain
