So, I'm in the market for a new driver this spring. I've been hitting my Nike VR_S Covert for about 4-5 years now, and my swing has changed a great deal so it doesn't really work for me anymore. Last summer was a rough one for me off the tee. Anyway, when I bought my clubs at that time I was fortunate to get professionally fitted by a pro through a connection of mine at no cost on an outdoor range. This time around I do not have that luxury so I've been looking into places to get fitted. I know there are a few professionals in the area that have solid reviews and use some high end equipment to measure your swing, and there is also GolfTec. Both of those run in about the $175-$200 range for the fitting. We also have Golf Galaxy and the PGA Superstore in the area, which seem to not have quite the same level of equipment, but they will give you the fitting for free if you buy a club through them.
My question is has anybody used Golf Galaxy or a "big box" store for club fittings? How was the experience? I'm a bit worried about getting someone who doesn't really know what they are doing or is just going to push the most expensive options at me. Also, being that it is just the first week of March, I haven't really been swinging much the last few months outside of a few trips to TopGolf. Would I be best to wait until I can get some time in on the range to get back into the feel of things, or would that not matter much?
If it matters, though I don't have an official handicap I fall in the 12-14 range.

I have not but used a local pro to do it . That being said you will see the results on the simulator so it should be the information you need to make a decision.
I'm probably going to buy a new one this year. I think mine is 4 years old.
