Some of you are aware of all the Lidar chat ( what is lidar?) floating around HB forums and the Golf Sim forums. The man responsible for all this is chadgolf who has some lvl 99 wizard skills when it comes to developing programs and working with various forms of code. I feel there is tremendous potential in the tools he's working on when it comes to creating super accurate RCR courses and even blank plots based off real locations. What I'm hoping happens is we leverage the hive mind of TGCT's design community to help Chad improve his program with the end result being better RCRs that take a fraction of the time to create vs the old method. We'll be trying to organize this a bit better in the coming weeks - adding tutorials, FAQs, etc. Hopefully you guys are able to figure out how to find/get the lidar data - there seems to be a learning curve so we're going to have to help each other along. There is also a very interesting site called OpenStreetMap that allows you to accurately trace golf courses - which Chad's program magically transforms into splines in the course creator. With the combination of OSM and high quality lidar data - it's really a new frontier for RCR design. That said, there's lots of learning to do. I'm sure there'll be some bumps along the way - but in the end, I'm hoping the guys that are excited by the new tool will be able to help ChadGolf improve TGC Golf Tools with constructive feedback. I strongly suggest you all watch the video tutorial ChadGolf did on twitch if you haven't yet. I'll put it below. I've recruited theclv24 and friendBOMBER to help get this off the ground. Thx!

Great stuff!
A wiki would make sense as a knowledge base for where to find lidar data etc.

Great stuff! A wiki would make sense as a knowledge base for where to find lidar data etc. Does anyone know if we can turn posts into "community wikis"? I'm in favor of the important tips and tricks floating to the top, rather than being buried in threads. If not, external wikis always end up lacking in resources, whether it be editing or eventually their databases slow down from overuse. :\ No winning it seems!

Don't believe this board has that option - best bet is to have a mod gather the best tips and copy/edit them to the top post. I'll see who's most active here and reach out to them to see if that's something they want to do.
