Calling all new and experienced course architects. This competition will find out who among you can design stellar British Heathland Courses. Heathland courses are a staple of classic British inland designs with such courses often hosting events on the European Tour and qualification for both the Open and US Open. However, there is a dearth of quality Heathland courses in TGC 2019 this needs to be addressed. If you wish to view some quality IRL Heathland courses here are a few examples: Walton Heath, Sunningdale old and New, Ladybank and Blairgowrie Rosemount .
Mission 1) to give designers, accomplished and novice alike, a platform to showcase their work while receiving honest & constructive peer reviews 2) to supply all TGC Tours schedulers with a plethora of tour-worthy courses for use in competition 3) to foster fellowship and camaraderie among the design community
Registration and Timeframe
- Registration is open March 1st to 7th
- 8 places available with 2 alternates - First come first serve - Publishing is allowed between May 1st - 15th
- Results will be announced in the first week of June
Format - Two groups of 4 with top two progressing from each group - Knock out for the last 4 - Scoring will follow the TGC scoring criteria with emphasis on being a great Heathland
Courses - Designers can use whatever theme they wish provided the course is of Heathland style - Courses should be present a challenge without being tricked up
Stipulations - no betas - no streaming the design process - pictures are welcome on appropriate Under Construction Thread
