Played the wind in 3 as well as I possibly could have and have pretty much guaranteed an improvement on last weeks shambles but feel like the first two rounds will probably cost me a maiden win, second round was particularly disappointing given how easy the scoring was but the third and fourth round made up for it.
Course was really good fun and tempo behaved this week so for once, no complaints from me! I know, bookmark it!!!! π

Went ahead and finished. Struggled some in R3 for -9 and was kicking ass in R4 -14 thru 14 but wheels fell of with a weak bogey and a couple of missed makeable putts. Limped In at -14. So -12,-11, -9, -14 for -46. Goal was -52 fell short but overall felt good, made some bomb putts, missed a few easy ones. Good luck!

-45 for me. Missed some really easy putts in R1 and 2... been fiddling with my putting technique for a few weeks and I abandoned it in R3 and 4 and went much better.
Should make the cut with -23... mid table obscurity awaits!

Round 1 -12. Round 2 -10. -22 will see me get chopped this week. ππ Played ok for the most, but there were a few holes where I must've forgotten how to play. More akin to a @!$#ing 3 year old toddler. π π Had some laughable bogies and even more LOL-ing at putts will see me a quick 2 and out. ππ Played your ghost, fadgewacker. Much fun! ππ

This thread needs more drama. Could someone please complain about the course or short swinging or something else so I can entertain myself?

My perfect post patch record of not getting near a cut is well and truly intact. Actually hitting it much better tee to green but finding putting super frustrating. A slight left or right break and you slightly miss you putting line and you have no chance, far too punishing imo. Good luck to everyone and ill see you for another two next week.

No disrespect to the designer but another week where if you score par feels like a bogey? FML. Where are the tougher courses?

No disrespect to the designer but another week where if you score par feels like a bogey? FML. Where are the tougher courses? How much tougher can we really play it for the US open? I assume we are playing it here as it's at pebble this year? I would honestly rather find something more difficult than have a slaughter fest at this course again. Oh yeah. I was -58 this week. I feel as though the greens were set to this firmness and speed because the US open will be at this venue and they didn't want us playing similar conditions. That's just my two cents.

Not only that, but there will be 24 new and TOUGH courses coming. Thanks be praised.

Call me crazy, but if PGA is on the door here and we have the iconic Pebble Beach available we should use it. Otherwise what is even the point of having PGA used at all here? Not any disrespect to the wonderful courses that come from designers here, but come Major time people watch it on TV and then enjoy playing it here the same week.
Having a design contest (the lifeblood for courses here at TGCT - I understand this) for tough courses? Use it to help stock the PGA, Euro, and Web tours. Designate maybe 2 or 3 per tour (maybe the top 10 from the contest would be "guaranteed" Pro level use) from the contest will be required to use sometime later in the season? It seems very wrong to replace a course that is already available, especially as legendary as Pebble is. Even those not in the top 10 will have several used on the tours elsewhere at TGCT. So unless this is specific to Pebble being used twice in a season (so what?), then why replace it?

So unless this is specific to Pebble being used twice in a season (so what?), then why replace it? I think for every person that wants to play what the pros are playing during a major week, there's one that would much rather play a tough, fitting, US Open course. I have to be honest, playing an "ok" version of Shinnecock last year did not do it for me. I felt no connection to the real event. Pebble is much nicer, but we already play it once a year. I think there's just a bit of a disconnect between the playing community and the designing community. As Bob you seem to think that hosting some regular PGA event is some sort of prize for designers in this contest. The fact is, there are just not enough challenging courses out there and all of us top designers have hosted plenty of events. That kind of "prize" doesn't get anyone excited, whereas a major contest like this is sure to produce the highest-level and most challenging courses we've seen. I don't think that happens if a major event isn't attached to it. Bottom line is that our designers and fostering a good relationship between the tour and the top designers is much more important than playing those 4 good holes from Pebble Beach twice in a year.

Game is still plenty difficult for me, even at Pebble. Sounds boringly easy for some of you. π€
