Hey Dylan nice progress and its looking good, the fairway bunkers look a bit deep for my liking as one or two look like you cant actually get out of them and thats fair enough but the fairways look a bit tight so the penalty for a miss is too severe IMO. HOw wide are the fairways at 280-300? Thanks for bringing the bunkers up. Many other designers feel the same way. But I feel it's very realistic. Bunkers in this game are so easy to the point where people would rather be in bunkers than be in the heavy rough. For all my courses, I'v e made them deep to challenge the player. But they can still hit a 5 iron out of it. My thoughts on bunkers are, bunkers are hazards. And hazards should be hard. Why have bunkers if they aren't really a challenge. And I feel this is a sort of signature in my designs. And the fairways. I have them 20 yards wide and the fairway starts 190 yards away. I tried to replecate Oak Hill's fairways which in some cases are 17 yards. But yes I totally see what you are talking about and thanks for the comment, lad.

Lot of progress for 3 days. Big fan of the Oak Hill renovation drawings... Yea, I am so excited about this. It's my first ever design contest, so definently want to get going. And I love the restoration pics too. So much is changing! I love it!

The course I'm designing finally has a name! Welcome to Empire Pines, Wedderburn, Oregon. Make the other side of the ocean hear the roar from the U.S. Open.

Ive been sketching out some green ideas this morning. Just to see what would fit the courses. Greens with stars I am most likely to use.

Using the road as a hazard long is a pretty good idea. If I have one like in my course just know I didn't steal the idea from you:)
Hah nah I'm jk I wouldn't steal your ideas

I kind of wanted to replicate the Road Hole. But I want the hole to be about 380 yards but the green being very small and having a pin tucked behind the bunkers on a round with softer greens.

My last contest course I drew green complexes on the back of my AP tests. I also sometimes draw some on the sketchbooks I use for my drawing classes. I’ve found it to be a great practice and I’ll probably draw some of my holes from the course I’m making in this competition after it’s finished.
