I'm not likely to get into this contest as I'm something like the 9th choice alternate but I decided to sit down and get a good start on this while I had the time. 10 hours and a few rejected plots after that decision I've got one that stuck.

ok so apparently playtesting my course has granted me access to the new Underwater DLC... I have no clue why the game decided that water doesn't exist (or it does and that I can get a 97-100% lie from it) but this may be a bit of a problem for me to work around in the design. Probably just gonna set a water table under the default water table, but that is a hell of a weird bug. Makes naming the course easier, this has guaranteed that I'll put something about Atlantis in there.

I have had a water lie a few times, but not like that. I just was laughing to myself because I was thinking in Tgc2 we had Bridgegate, now in 2019 we can have watergate

Like the look of the style you're going for. Steep run offs can be a great defender against low scoring if done well. 👍

All 18 holes are playable with 4 pins placed and a working title has been given to the course. These are some of my favorite views from the grounds at Nova Coast Club: A view from the 1st tee; this hole is reachable in two despite being 625 yards thanks to 115 feet in elevation change from tee to green. The green complex at 4, a 560 yard par 4 that similarly plays extremely downhill. This green is mostly guarded by a large amount of slope going towards the right hand side cliff. A look from the teeing ground at 5, a par 4 which is a full 250 yards shorter than the hole preceding it. The green at 10, which has a severe slope bisecting it that makes the two sections of the green play nearly 40 yards from each other. And lastly, a view from the likely 14th tee site, a hole that has many more options off the tee than you would first think.

I've spent the last couple days throwing around ideas for a backup course in case I fall out of favor with the current build. A quick little progress pic of how that one is coming along: I'm still heavily favoring the Nova Coast Club build and that essentially needs only planting/beautification and some good old fashioned practice rounds to iron out everything regarding gameplay on it. Distances and hole designs are pretty much set in stone on almost every hole though.

The problem with building two courses that you may want to potentially use is choosing between them... Nova Coast Club is almost done with tweaks for playability (only a couple more problem children holes to deal with) but this one, which has the working title of Lightrider Golf Club, isn't looking bad by any stretch. My main hesitancy with NCC is that it is a very fantasy-esque course. Though I'm trying to build it so that that is a positive (who doesn't like multiple holes with 350+ yard drives?) it may be a bit of a daring gamble to enter it into a competition. Lightrider doesn't have that problem and, though it won't have any "wow" holes from a visual perspective, the routing I'm coming up with is much better than that of NCC. I guess it's better to have two courses I like than none.

By God it is not a good idea to plant this course like this... but I'm doing it anyway 5 holes planted, 13 to go. Good thing I'll most likely be judging because this may not get finished by the 15th.

Finished with the front 9 planting, on to the back 9! I've used less than 40% of the meter so I should be good with getting my planting complete on all of the holes, provided I don't get caught by the deadline. Started planning out the clubhouse and practice facilities too... Will have more pictures (my last round before publish) when I have all of the holes completely planted and only have work left to do on the clubhouse and practice areas.

And like an idiot I’ve gone and signed up for a campus activity that takes up almost the entire weekend. Guess I’ll be having a couple days of classic rock and planting into the wee hours of morning.
