The stretch from 9-13 places a HUGE emphasis on acquiring the optimal angle for the pin on a given day. Each has at least 4 viable tee shot options, and with each hole being less than 420 you may just want to put the big stick down. None of these will be driveable under any circumstance, except maybe 13 if I don't elevate the green
If you don't make sure you have an angle, you might not have a shot at all

I'm not really counting on getting in the lineup so I'm just making what I want to make. Regardless of if the course gets in though, I know it will stump a pga player. I am just hoping that others consider it difficult for the right reasons. I think a 4 rd event here would probably be a -30 for the elite, as for me, I played my 15 holes on the rd 3 set at -1. When you get done with your round here, you won't know what made it difficult . Not length, not tight pins, not even narrow fairways or excessive hazards. It is just a subtle combination of things..

Love your work so far.

With only 2 holes remaining until completion, I am thinking hard on the closing stretch. I want golfers to have an opportunity to make a late push and get some strokes back. I also want golfers to be able to have a meltdown and give their strokes back to the course. As a result I have decided on possibly the most demanding hole design I have ever devised. From the tips, this hole will play as a double cape double dogleg par 5, and will require an aggressive tee shot drawing directly toward the water to have a shot at getting home in 2.
Was not able to get this hole to work like I'd imagined it.

This course is easily far superior to any prior release of mine. Literally every angle just projects such majesty.

Just gonna make some notes to myself regarding setup. I like to forget or lose everything.
Round 1: pin1 High winds to the east. Very firm greens rolling 163.
Key stat long putt%
Terrain firm all else default.
Estimated top 10 pace -13
Round 2: the players return on Saturday after being rained out Friday. The course is a sopping mess and the greens are rolling as true as pinnochio. The sun is out and the course is drying up. The entire area is inside a stable high causing the wind to shift from the prevailing direction. Just a light breeze today.
Pin 2 medium winds to the southeast. Soft greens rolling 144. Terrain moderate all else default.
Get it while the gettin's good !
Key stat: FIR, PPH
Estimated top 10 pace: -13
Round 3: 'staying day'
A tropical low sits to the southeast causing the winds to gust over 20 mph! This course was not designed for these conditions, we must stop the tournament!!
*phone rings*
"Hello?"
"Ahhh yes mhmm, this is the open director mkayyyy. I sayyyy, the show must go On!"
"But sir! The players will whinge like they did at Oakmont! Are you trying to embarrass the best video golfers in the world?!?!"
"Oh noo young chap, not in the least. I am not trying to embarrass the best,
I AM TRYING TO IDENTIFY THEM.
A wise man once said, "they're on the pga, they can handle it"
pin 4, very high winds NW direction. Overcast. All else default
Key stat: scrambling
Estimated top 10 pace: -7
Round 4 high winds to the northeast. All else default

While the first two holes are nearly the same shape and length, they are pointed in opposite directions so they will not play similar. Hole #1 features a split fairway divided by a bunker that threatens to swallow up your drive on the rollout. Check the pin placement because anything on the right half of the green cannot be attacked from the right of the fairway. Short and left of the bunker is Ideal. Hole # 2 tempts you off the tee to take a big bite out of that fairway bunker. However, because the ravine was not trimmed in preparation for the tournament, the better vantage and angle is actually from the left

Hole #3 is a gauntlet of a par 4. The corner cannot be cut unless the wind is stiff from behind so it will play every bit of 511 yards. The front pin is far more dangerous than it appears. Hole #4 is the first par 3, and it's a 'mammoth'. The green is surrounded by bunker and there is little fringe to catch your ball should it go errant. This is NOT a birdie opoortunity. Play defensive! Hole 5 is reachable with less than driver, but don't let my lighting tricks fool you. There is trouble everywhere. Golfers should consider the conditions carefully before trying. Hole 6 is the first par 5. The longest hitters may get home in 2 if they can keep the drive between the fairway bunkers. This hole is easily birdied by laying up twice though. Hole 7 is the second par 3 and it's a shorty. A tiny green in a claustrophobic corridor may make you second guess your wind adjustment. A flat green guarantees a birdie - if you can find the surface Hole 8 is a long par 4. All you have to do is avoid the pit. There is plenty of run up from the left side of the fairway to play it how you want. Driver at your own peril! Hole 9 begins a stretch of positional holes. Driver is optional and wind direction and pin placement should be the main drivers of your tee shot. The ravine is ob on 9, but something tells me that a 30 yard wide fairway to the right won't be enough to convince you it's not worth the risk. Hole 10 asks you to flirt with the bunker on your tee shot to maintain the best line in.. only you can decide how close you want to get Hole 11's fairway cambres to the right so be very wary of the fairway bunker. Missing the fairway left though makes par an achievement. Hole 12 is the 3rd par 3. A tricky green but should yield some birdies Hole 13 is a short par 4 that may be driveable depending on wind. The up and down from the front bunkers isn't as straightforward as you might assume, though. Hole 14 is the second par 5 and yes, the fairway really is that narrow. Called sabretooth after the fang shaped depression that juts into the landing area. If you can't carry it, you should play this hole as a 3 shotter. There simply isn't enough fairway to risk having to lay up from there Hole 15 wants you to put the driver away. If you hit a perfect driver though, the fairway will guide your ball around the bend. You probably should birdie here. Hole 16 is a wedge par 3. Be careful playing into headwinds here, the green will throw you back off the front Hole 17s yardage refers to the preferred strategy as a 3 shot hole. The tee placement causes it to play as a double dogleg, but of you get it as far down the fairway and as close to the bunker as you can handle, you may get home in two. Hole 18, the finishing hole, tests your ability to handle only the basics under pressure. Find the fairway, wedge on, putt in. Easy enough right?
