What do these mean? What do they refer to? How are they calculated? Why are some people on a score given an up arrow whilst others - on the same score - given nothing at all? Call me stoopid, but I do not understand

If you do good you get a promotion mark. if you do bad you get a demotion mark. Once you get... I think its 5 marks, then you get promoted or demoted to a different division.
the projected marks is how they would fall if they were given 'right now', before the match completely ends. It can change as more people finish their rounds. Sort of like the projected cuts.
The ones you see where people are getting them but others with the same score are not, thats where someone has a demotion mark, and they might do good enough to clear it, or vice versa.
The exact formulas for all of it are posted in the rules, I think thats somewhere on the main TGC page.

Call me stoopid, but I do not understand It basically means if the tournament ended right now this is what people would get. The reason for people with the same score getting a mark and others not getting a mark has to do with where demotion marks are cleared vs. promotion marks earned. See here: TGCT Rules for Promotions & DemotionsSo since you clear a demotion mark by being in the top 100 its possible to get a "projected promotion mark" by being in the 80-90 range while somebody else who doesn't have a demotion mark and is at the same score would not. See example here: In the example above, both Steve Green and Jared Becker are projected for a positive mark because they have a demotion mark and are in the top 100 which will clear 1 mark while the other guys who don't have a demotion mark will not get one because they are not in the top 20. Hope that makes sense.

Hope that makes sense. Taylor, this is a fantastic explanation. It comes down to the fact that the criteria for earning promotion marks is different depending upon whether you have demotion marks or not. As Taylor pointed out, if you have demotion marks, you need to be in the top 100. If you have no demotion marks (you have no marks at all, or have promotion marks), then you need to be in the top 20.

Thank you, Taylor - I am in complete agreement with ErixonStone above when he says that was a great explanation, and it has cleared everything up for me. I think I have scraped through this week without getting a demerit, so must try harder next week. It's all because I have not played a tournament for weeks (various reasons) and this was only my 2nd this year and the only fix is to play tournaments. Much appreciated

Hey y'all I have a follow up question regarding projected marks. I play on CC-A and am aware that I have to be using master clubs to be promoted to the Web.com tour. However, I see on the leaderboard this week that several players using pro clubs in the top 20 are projected to get a movement mark this week. Does this mean that I can earn these marks while playing with pro clubs but it's only the fifth and final mark that I need to obtain while using master clubs in order to be promoted? For example, I can see one player with 4 marks already and is projected to get another mark this week using pro clubs. I assume said player will not be promoted and will remain at 4 marks. It would definitely be a lot easier to earn these marks with pro clubs and only switch to master clubs with 4 marks when there is a chance of being promoted. I have been under the impression that these marks could only be earned with master clubs on CC-A as it is the only way to get promoted.

From what I understand you can earn all promotion marks with Pro Clubs but if you win promotion to Web you have to use Master Clubs.

They state "Master clubs required 'to promote to' a Pro Tour (PGA, European, Web.com)" when I guess it should say "Master clubs required 'when promoted to' a Pro Tour (PGA, European, Web.com)" if what you say is indeed the case.

Well, I guess I'll only have to wait til tomorrow to find out for sure when I see if said player gets promoted or not.

That person will get promoted. The old rule where players using Pro Clubs could not be promoted was causing top-level players to be stuck in CC-A, dominating the circuit. It wasn't really fair to the rest of CC-A players.
