This isn't something I have ever felt the need to use either on TGC2 or the new or 19 but am I missing a trick ?
The high winds on Round 3 of this week's CC-B tournament has set me thinking.
Does anyone use it ? What are the benefits ? and when do you use it ?
thanks

I’ve only used it to keep below branches when I’ve hit a bad one. Did try to use it a bit in the Euro event that had crazy winds, seemed to work ok into the wind instead of a 9i or wedge, particularly when there was a false front to bang it into.

I use it a lot on par 5 lay up shots in high winds. Much better than a high towering shot in such conditions.

Definitely have used it to get out from below some trees. Even used one, to decent effect, on The Goat Ranch last week. It's not oft-used but I think there's definitely opportunities.

I used a punch shot with my driver on a par 3 that had me in between clubs. My 3i would be too short and my 3w would have put me way over. I chose the punch shot in the hopes it would roll up onto the green. See for yourself it I accomplished my mission. I have since used that shot again on a different course.
