So I'm a mouse collector for games like TGC. I love to find well weighted mice with good optics and clean mouse pads that can track the movements correctly. Too often I find you get a good mouse but the mouse pad cannot track the optical sensor correctly and that spells disaster, either on ball striking making shanks or you get partial power shots/putts.
Right now i'm using the Corsair M95 mouse with MM600 Mouse pad. The pros:
- Mouse is well weighted, heavy and with the glide pads and aluminum bottom it slides effortlessly.
- Ability to change DPI settings on the fly, even in between shots if you like, tho I haven't found this to be terribly effective. Some may like it.
- Ability to take a smoother swing, which helps with the accuracy of your shot.
Cons:
- Playing at 800 DPI helps with straight shots, but you give up some power, meaning on drives and long putts you have to extend your stroke. This can have unfortunate consequences like leaving a putt horribly short or shanking the drive.
- Takes a while to get the muscle memory down to swing straight. Lighter mice it is a bit easier to swing but harder to keep straight.
- It is a bit bigger in the hand for palm users
I know Asus is coming out with their ROG Sparta mouse, so I'm curious about that. I have tried the Corsair Sabre which is under 100 grams and while it is easier to swing, it is also easier to mess up with. I did like the Logitech G700s, but only when it is in wired mode. Logitech claims the response time wirelessly is the same, but there is just enough lag to make putting a nightmare. I haven't tried any of the other mice like madcatz or razer, so I'm interested in what people have to say who own other types of mice.
I ask all this cause we know that the swing is one of the most important parts of the game and with things like the ball squirt it is essential to get your swing as straight as possible. I have played over 600 rounds testing all these mice and the M95 is the best so far. With it i can get over 90% of the swings perfect or just a tick off one side or the other.
Let me know!
