Im trying to eliminate all randomness that could possibly affect my swing tempo, and I thought capping the FPS would make sense? Good idea? Does it make a difference at all? If so, is it best to use the in-game vsync or to use a gfx driver game profile (radeon -> Frame Rate Target Control, in my case) ?

It might make a difference with the random tempo if you are having spikes or drops in your FPS as you play. I do know that a lot of people don't cap their frames but don't have too many issues. I believe you can adjust the max FPS in the game visual settings (someone correct me if I'm wrong). It's worth a try at least to see if it improves things for you.

My rig is pretty good, and steam fps reports 80-90 fps without vsync. I tried a few rounds with vsync @ 60hz, and it made no substantial difference besides a tendency to do alot more perfect/fast swings. That could be all random though...

I cap frames (75fps) but don't use vsync as I have a gsync (144hz) monitor.
Not sure if it helps, my swing tempo is still very random, lots of P/VF and some errant P/VS creep in.

locked at 60 here with every "cheesy" option turned off. Game still pukes random tempo. I use FRAPS, always have
Wanna control the tempo? Buy a dual shock 4....play on PS4
or
...hack into the server

Wanna control the tempo? Buy a dual shock 4....play on PS4 I'm waiting for a sale as it's current £38 on UK PS Store - I may double dip if it goes to around £25. Says a lot when all the top players (WGR) seem to be on the same system.

I don’t bother... atm... tho may experiment in the coming weeks as my tempo is not great at all.
There is some anecdotal evidence posted that reducing FPS to PS4 levels (30) makes tempo much easier - not sure I can stomach that much drop tho.

PS4: Sloan, Fulton, Custard, Barnett
XB: Brown
PC: Smedley, Oliver, Dallas, Bedell
Undecided (PS4 / PC - usually PS4 although currently PC): Garcia
So 5/4/1 split one way or the other

So 5/4/1 split one way or the other every top player playing on PC uses a Dual Shock 4 controller...so pretty much are PS4 players. If one controller makes the game that much easier to play, its an unfair advantage in my opinion

If one controller makes the game that much easier to play, its an unfair advantage in my opinion Can't speak for other PC players but I ended up 12th in Q School and I use an XB1 controller on PC. I actually tried a DS4 controller last week hoping it might give me a tempo advantage, and it didn't help at all, if anything it was slightly worse tempo-wise than the XB1 controller. I reckon I average 80+% perfect DS per round with my XB1 controller, so I'm pretty sure it's the system and controller causing the unreasonable difficulty with master clubs for Xbox players. XB1 players definitely get a very raw deal with master club tempo though that's for damned sure. Edit: and in response to OP's question, I've never once played with FPS or any other settings and I have had no problems with tempo that I can't attribute to my own error. I don't even look at the screen when I swing, I just rely on the timing feel and if there was a FPS issue messing tempo up I doubt I'd be able to get perfect downswings nearly as much. As above can't speak for other players though of course.

I use vsync, and I also cap it at 60. I’ve gotten mixed results, but for the most part it’s been okay.
