Ive worked on this quite a bit but lazza is the man. Having the fast perfect and 95 percent swings is a must to dial in long approaches where loft is useless.
It's all in the timing and I'm as interested in tips as you. Problem is that as soon as you start doing it on purpose it'll start happening more by accident. Good luck in your endeavor

Like a split second before it gets to the top. If you're too early, then it becomes a 95% power swing which will lose a bit of distances, a bit shorter then 90% and so on. The sweet spot for a 'fast' (really that just means 'early') backswing with 100% power to get more distance is just before the top of the backswing. Takes some practice but it's so, so worth it.

Haven’t gone and tested it yet but I’m guessing this may be hard to achieve with ladies clubs since there are never any tempo issues with them

I thought fast backswing was moving it back faster.... what youre saying is moving it forward sooner?

I thought fast backswing was moving it back faster.... what youre saying is moving it forward sooner? Backswing is about the transition at the top of the swing, NOT the speed of it. If you have a just slightly short swing just before/at the apex you get a fast downswing but still 100% power and it adds distance.
Downswing is about the speed from the apex through hitting the ball (pushing forward with the analog). Pushing more firmly/harder helps to achieve a fast downswing.
The best combo for more distance is a fast/fast and with loft on your driver. It can add 20 or even more yards vs. a regular perfect/perfect drive. Keep in mind with the fast downswing that you will pull the ball and your aim pre-shot may need to be adjusted for it.

Thanks for the clear description, do you watch the club head or is it feel?

I haven't mastered it yet due to the corrupt swing system i think. Tends to work better than adding fade or draw to the ball. What im reading about this is you want a fast/fast with loft for optimum distance using master clubs.

Thanks for the clear description, do you watch the club head or is it feel? I am not all that great at it, to be honest. Getting the fast backswing is easier for me to do. I am pretty much feel/timing for the swing in general, but I am looking at the screen. It just "feels" like I am starting the backswing a microsecond early.
Getting the fast downswing on cue (deliberately) is the more difficult thing for me as I can only do this maybe 30-40% of the time when I try to achieve it. So, for me, the F/F combo is not something I can count on and only try on wider fairways since the ball may go straight or pull a bit and I don't know which will actually happen.

I'm always Fast/Perfect, well mostly always, and normally is hooks to the left slightly but I've learned to play with that. Unfortunately when I hit Perfect/Perfect I'm usually off the fairway to the right. Now if I err I err to very-fast/perfect which totally sucks, unless I have a killer dogleg left. Sorry no real tip here, just a comment.

From your description I'm guessing you mean you get perfect/fast (convention is to order the phrase as backswing/downswing) because backswing affects power, not dispersion.

With master clubs I get more Perfect/Fast swings so I always aim a little right of centre but with pro clubs I get more perfect/slow so I do the opposite......just saying.

Fast/Perfect while looking at my swing meter. Fast on Top, Perfect on Bottom. Well that's the way I'm looking at it.

Top is downswing and bottom is backswing, extremely important to know that especially when talking about manipulating tempo, because fast/perfect is ideal on drives since it goes straight, but perfect/fast will have you hooking the ball into the woods or water!
