Evening all.
Is there a list out of game controllers that are allowed to be used in TGC? Or any recommendations?
I've just finally bought a wired controller for my ps4. A standard cheap controller that doesn't allow any mods. Officially licensed by Playstation too. It is called "play" £28.
I've just played the second week of Q school and found the difference between wired and wireless was insane. I was hitting everything TOO well so got in touch with the powers that be to check my API which they kindly did. I've just been informed that I'll fail next weeks API. I can probably return the controller and I was looking at one called NACON or NACOM. This one even has the official ps emblem on it.
Wanted advice beefier I order another though
Many thanks

There is a post around here somewhere by Doyley that says it's best to use "official" controllers. EG: Sony DS4 or Xbox 360 or xbox 1 contoller. 3'rd party ones have more dead zone and are more apt to fail the API check edit tgctours.proboards.com/thread/12112/fair-play-policy

Very easy answer: anything other than an official stock controller will almost certainly result in Officer API knocking on your door. Stick to stock at all costs.

The only approved ones are the proper legit official DS4's and XB1's made by Sony and Microsoft. Anything else - and you are on dodgy ground. So spend the extra £20 and get an official one up front - save yourself the hassle.

If on PC and given a choice of what to use among the Dual Shock 4 and an Xbox controller, I would say use a DS4. Check the data here: tgctours.proboards.com/post/374496With a large amount of data, it certainly implies that a DS4 is easier to get good tempo on vs a XBox controller.

I've learnt from my mistake. :+( Official does not equate to officially made by.. I've just ordered a gen 2 DS4 controller and cable.
Wow that was a cheap purchase lol.
Gutted that I'll need to re do Q School again but such is life.
Cheers for all of your help fellas.

I know not many read the finer details of the rules and this is not aimed at you, but I put this here so someone else coming along in the future may stumble across this and read it:
A note about 3rd party controllers/officially licensed
There are many officially licensed controllers for both the PS4 and XB1. Officially licensed is another term for 3rd party controller. Most of these controllers are not built with the same quality/sensitivity as the PS4 or XB1 official controller. An officially licensed or 3rd party controller may look like a regular controller but may not pass our Fair Play metrics analysis. Please be aware of this when claiming your controller is an Official XB1 or PS4 controller - it may not be.
Also, please note we have yet to see a controller manufactured by Power A, Hori, or Logitech pass our Fair Play metrics. If your controller is manufactured by either of these manufacturers, it is highly unlikely that your scores will be accepted.

Mate, from what I've learnt don't go for Endorsed, licensed by or any other wording except made by. Get yourself the official controllers and nothing else. If you want to stay within the boundaries of TGC that is.

Just FYI, I tested my power a, passed no worries. I’d use it but I’ve changed my grip on the controller and now hold it where the cord comes out on the Power A. Only tested one round but admin said no worries at all 👍

I use a Steam controller, haven’t had any API issues. I struggle quite a bit with my swing, but that’s probably me just sucking rather than the controller. Anyone else use Steam controller? Any tips?

I use my Logitech g27 wheel. Accelerate for backswing, brake for downswing. So long as I move the wheel a fraction I can fool the API and get away with it 👌🏻

My daughter looks at me very suspiciously when I say I'm going out to play golf nowadays, dressed like Gene Simmons.
