I'm interested in trying these out. "No Grids" I'm assuming is no putting grids. Is "no training wheels" no scout cam, no wind meter and no putting grids? Yes. Just the hole overview/putting camera camera is activated. What about Club selection and aiming reticle?

Glad you're enjoying it. You're right, the flyby makes one appreciate a little more the work of the designer.

I enjoy it, but on PS4 all greens look more or less flat. To me, there just isn't enough visual feedback to get a realistic green read. And moving the putting camera around, and plumb bobbing everything with the marker is just too slow. A free moving putting camera would be a huge improvement... one that isn't 'anchored' to a particular point on the green.
It's a shame they don't have another step or two on green grids. So instead of just on or off, there was an in-between step or two for double or triple sized grids. *That* would be ideal. Just enough gridline to help indicate the 3d picture in a 2d environment. It may not be that way for everyone, but for me, with my old eyes, it's just very difficult with the graphic fidelity I'm looking at... and it ends up being a guess. There is a difference between guessing if it's 6" or 8" of break... that's real. But guessing if it's one foot left, or one foot right on an 8' putt (which happened to me yesterday) is actually more video-gamey than realistic to me.

Yes. Just the hole overview/putting camera camera is activated. What about Club selection and aiming reticle? No club selection or shot selection. So you start a shot with either a driver or putter in your hand. You have to change your club for every swing. And for a non-normal swing, you would have to select pitch/flop/etc You still get an aiming reticle.

Love reading this. Going to try out that PC set up, franzen. Btw - I am also going this route - and created a tour for sim minded players to join in and enjoy with a similar format of tgctours. It will not be huge, but I am hoping for quality not quantity. If it's 5 or even 10, it will still be a joy. Please check it out and join if you'd like: realisticgolftour.proboards.com/

Please check it out and join if you'd like: realisticgolftour.proboards.com/Competition for Denis then? You need to get rid of the wind meter though, mate! It's becoming clear to me that it's the single randomizing factor we have in game really. And with it on you can "dial" away the wind influence and start hitting fairways with pinpoint accuracy and sticking all aproaches within 10 feet (which is where I think we have the limit from which flattish putts can be consistenty holed out in game with no grids). Removing the rest of the aids is an annoyance only and can/will be overcome (not putting maybe, but people will get better - a lot better). The wind cannot be "overcome" as it is (like in real life) random to a degree. So needs to be strategically accounted for. This is huge as it changes risk reward decisions and aim points on greens - promotes sound golf decisions and allows good defensive green complex design to actually be a defence against birdies... Matt - if we are looking for realism we want to be looking at mid/short iron approach shots on average 15-20 feet from the hole to simulate pro golf. Allowing to dial away the wind will get the aproach shots too close and scores come down - a lot - as you negate the "no grid" difficulty. It's not like its hard to get your adjustment in the ballbark anyway. I have gone from hating the idea of removing wind meter to thinking it's the future of me enjoying the game.... Funny - but I hope many more will take that journey.

Funny - but I hope many more will take that journey. I'm all for it, man - you know me. I have been playing without the wind the majority of the time, I like to "hear" the gusts. Consider it done. I need about 5 more members to get this thing moving realistically. The website is about done and forums as well. I'm going to add the bit about the wind meter being off, and that's that. Btw - this is in no way trying to compete with TGCT, thanks to Doyley giving me sound advice on how to run things - so it's going to be far from pro - but just a nice place for me to work on my website creating "skills" and experience. I am learning all this on my own and plan on consulting IRL. Website finally up, domain name pending: matt10l.wix.com/realisticgolftour
