matt, You need scout am to fly around the greens I think. If putting cam works you can cycle through some static views by pushing L3 (ps4) .

Bump Bump.
NO TRAININGS WHEELS this week at Lunenberg? Out last week...
Had a 1st round that was up and down. Had an untimely chip 3-putt for double and was spraying tee shots all over the place, otherwise it could have been well under par.
No assists is the way to go! Very playable after a short adjustment period. Couple mis-reads per round, but those happen on new courses IRL as well...

Just played 1st round at Lunenberg shot -2 with 4 bogeys, its great fun. I finished +4 or thereabouts... Had a meltdown front 9 of third round including a four putt. Sloppy and completely avoidable. Then a nice (for me anyway) even par round in probably 10-13mph gusty winds in the last round. Seems I dont understand how to play that left dogleg with a tree in your way if you go too far on the Drive. Got the approach knocked down by the tree and into the water in both round 2 and 3. My main issue however was not sticking the pitch shots. The pitching and flop mechanic actually does not seem so bad when all of a sudden a 6 foot putt goes from being a tap in to a knee knocker....

Just finished all 4rds of the NO TRAINING WHEELS @luneneberg, Now then if you played simulation and only simulation on tw14 u will love this, it is BBEEEAAUUUTTT , loved every minute, ok took me 5-6 holes to adjust on rd 1 but then after that thoroughly enjoyed it, thanks to the organiser of the above event, scores went as follows, RD1 70 -2RD2 71 -1RD3 70 -2RD4 66 -6TOTAL -11Now that's more realistic scoring not -55 to -60 each week. Again Gr8 Fun Let me know where next weeks is.

Question about No Grid putting:
Can you actually read the break? I'm on XB1 and have not tried this, but it seems like it would be a guessing game. Am I wrong?
Also, on the turning of the scout cam:
If a course wasn't designed well and had a bunch of blind landing areas, it could very problematic right?

You can read the break by using the putting cam I believe, or you can move the cursor around the green - on the side of the hole - and see what the indicator says "1' down...2' down...3' up" - it's a bit more tedious, but it gives you an idea of just how varying the undulations are. Love reading this thread btw, guys. Keep updating it, please. Too bad can't join you as I'm on the PC.

True, some courses are way more difficult to play without the scout camera., some courses have tougher greens to putt without a grid. The main thing IMHO to enjoy playing without aids, is to like golf and accept the fact that you might not shoot under par rounds on certain courses, on certain days, in certain conditions, and you might even survive it... ?

Question about No Grid putting: Can you actually read the break? I'm on XB1 and have not tried this, but it seems like it would be a guessing game. Am I wrong? Also, on the turning of the scout cam: If a course wasn't designed well and had a bunch of blind landing areas, it could very problematic right? Its a number of factors coming together in a read. What works in real life works in game. Some tips below in order of how I use them. - Pay attention to what the ball is doing after landing on the green. use the follow cam. You can deduct break from this. On the same theme, try to miss putts long and pay close attention to what the ball does after the hole as that give you the return break. Some purists think this is a bit cheesy, but for me it just cancels out some of the disadvantage of being on a 2D screen. - Use putting cam and get as low as possible, this should get you a feel for the break. Do it from behind the golfer and behind the hole. I like to swing the camera a bit side to side as sometimes that gives a better picture. - Look at the general lay of the land. If its high to the right of you and low to the left there is a very good chance that ball will turn that way. Another golden rule in real golf is that putts break to water, and the way the course designer works it tends to be the same in game. This is huge to get in the ballpark. - Once you have the general read, set the aim marker and if needed swing it around a bit to confirm your read by checking the elevation number. - Commit to the shot (Very important) and hit it. Don't overdo the read, usually you get a feeling within a couple of seconds, go with this when in doubt. Sometimes you will mis-read, that's life. Also some courses are "tricked" up with "unnatural" breaks. Those are hard. Straight putts can be nightmares as well. Very easy to read in some break that is not there. First time playing a course is hard as well - just like in real life. On my course which is a recreation of my home course I can usually sink a couple of 15-25 footers. But I know every green on that course from building it and also playing it for many years IRL. -
