Its weird I was getting out drove by a few people by 20-40 yards on alot of holes, do some guys really sit around and wait until the wind is at your back every hole? And I hit a 100% driver every time. To just see ghost balls flying past me is really really weird. For instance, all four rounds I played on hole 1 the wind was into me and a little right to left at 8-12 mph EVERY ROUND. I seen ghosts balls flying on the green. Its really a joke if people do that. HB needs to fix this issue quickly.

I've noticed this too, but I actually prefer having a little wind in my face to a certain degree on a lot of holes (not talking 15-20 mph) because it makes the approach shot "stick" a little better, especially when you have to go into the green with a higher iron. It is a little frustrating when it prevents you from making a go at hitting the green in two on a par 5, but I figure if these guys are willing to wait for the wind to change to what they prefer, more power to them. I personally don't have the patience to wait out the elements haha

For example I played all my rounds last Saturday/ Sunday (don't remember which) and I had winds ranging from 1-11 in those rounds. It just depends.

So if anyone was out hitting you by that much they were obviously playing high winds and you were not. But I could be wrong as well.
i.e hole 1 bailiwick, the wind ranges from in your face 6pm to a little at your back 2pm from left to right, might just me, but I think this is something I have noticed.

they are prevailing for a particular wind pattern, but once that pattern expires and a new one starts, the directions also change in general. im sure within a weeks time, some will have head winds while others will have tail winds from hole to hole. i just finished up 4 rounds, and the patterned changed in rounds 2 and 3, by the time i got to the 4th round, the wind was going opposite as it was in the first round.

Looks like I'm going to be on the "biggest Sunday chokers" list again, although this time it's not my fault. Winds were 10-15 consistently, with a few 17's mixed in. I didn't even know you could get 17 in Boreal! Thankfully it wasn't a Links course, because I immediately played Pebble Beach afterwards in 20-22 winds. Winds that high are just about unplayable in the game.
-7 to finish in round 4. I would say it was a pretty good round, too, all things considered. Maybe a bogey or two that I'd like to take back, but some great shots in heavy wind to make up for it. It's a shame that there is no context when you are holding that -7 up against a -15 that was probably played in no wind. It's on record though:

You know, watching the Farmers Insurance Open on TV, I forgot how absolutely stunningly beautiful is Torrey Pines. When I lived in Arizona back through the 80's and 90's I made the trek to La Jolla several times to play on this course. I've played Balboa, Pebble Beach and others, but Torrey Pines has always been my favourite course out on the west coast. I've played both the north and south course and there is no comparison to the difficulty with the south winning by a huge margin. I golfed it and like so many tried to recreate the Craig Stradler shot on 14. I played it before they lengthened the number par 13 and was able to make the green in two amazingly enough with a combination of a closed-head 4-wood and a bit of luck. As a note I missed the 5 foot eagle putt. My most memorable moment was the first time I ever played the course. It was early, a little after 6am and a fog had rolled in from the ocean. When we got to the signature hole, #3, we saw the yardage read 160 but the hole was below our feet. We knew it was somewhere in the fog, but we couldn't see the green or the pin at all. One of the men we were playing with said to for about 145 yards due to the elevation. In the end, we hit and hoped. The same man who gave us the info, hit his ball like an old pro and in the distance we heard the distinct "clank" of ball striking the pin. We quickly hurried down to the green, descending into the fog. It wasn't a hole-in-one but he was left with a nice 5 foot putt for birdie. My ball was off on the fridge on the opposite side of the green. A great chip and short putt I pared the signature hole, it was one of 3 pars that day and a single birdie, but I played a little higher than my 14 handicap that day with a 90. I was ecstatic I broke 100. My best round ever was an 82 a few years later. No where near pro level but it was always a pleasure to play the course.

Doyleys putting is stellar and that right there is what is separating that man from the rest of us boy's. He's our version of 2000 Tiger Woods, Tiger Woods changed the way the golfers approached the game, gone were the cigars, gone were the chilled 26ers, gone were the triple cheese burgers and afternoon naps. In were blisters from practice, in was steroids, in was golf gym sleep, rinse and repeat, in was a healthy diet, in were 3 doctors on your team.
Doyley is definitely the one to chase, he's not coming down to our level anytime soon, unless the groupies get to him.
