I wrote an article about a wonderful golf course in Tennessee that is changing the way a lot of people look at what golf can be in the United States. At only 9 holes but featuring wild and bold greens, mega-wide fairways littered with waste bunkers and fescue, and no clubhouse, driving range, or any other features except a few golf carts, and for under $50 for 18 holes, Sweetens is getting national and international attention. I went there earlier this year and had a blast. So I decided to write about it. I hope you'll give it a read if you're interested in golf architecture and food analogies. nolayingup.com/2018/10/16/unquenchable-thirst-sweetens-cove-golf-club/

Being that I work in golf just up the road in Knoxville, I've heard a few of our members talk about this place. Needless to say, those pictures look ridiculous. If I ever found time to drive down it would definitely be a spot to check out. I've been meaning to get down to one of our courses in Rome, GA (Stonebridge), so may have to figure out some type of a weekend trip and hit Sweetens on the way.
BTW, yourself and your NLU cohorts do a great job with that platform. I don't keep up with all things NLU, but I usually find myself liking the content a lot more than some of the more traditional golf media. Case-in-point, loving that little series they have going on the youtube page with the $500 or less trip to Iowa, good stuff lol

Definitely going to read this, I played this course a couple weeks back and it was incredible. Absolutely as advertised and deserves the recognition it gets. I even have a RCR in the works for it currently, as well as an additional 9 fictional holes to add to the actual plot of land to make it a semi-RCR 18-hole course.

I've studied it a lot, and have tons and tons of photos straight from the architect. Let me know if I can help.

I've been thinking about getting it today since it's on sale for $29 right now, wouldn't mind a collab if so, designing on the PS4 is frustrating at times. I actually lost almost an entire hole's worth of layout, sculpting and planting due to a PS4 crash and haven't touched the course since.

Yes, I am on PC. Can help however is needed, just not consistent about how much time I can devote. It varies pretty substantially by week.

I'll go ahead and pick up the PC-version and get started on laying it out, and anytime you wanna take a look or have some time to spend on it you can just shoot me a PM and I'll send the file over.

Marginally off topic..,but hereโs one within a 6 hour drive (estimating) I wish I could have played by now...a very NLU type venue, Iโd think:

Thanks to all who have given this a read and left feedback. Look forward to finishing my next one that highlights a few courses in Western Canada!
