TGC-related, TGC Tours-related, or just golf-related. I need to hear from people who are having fun and enjoying themselves with this game and the game of golf. It's a slow time of the year at work and I use this and the HB forums to keep myself occupied. It seems like it's tough to find people having fun right now, though, so prove me wrong! Here's what I DON'T want to hear about: - Wind waiting - Chipping on the green - The feature that you really want that HB won't add - Which game you prefer between TGC and PG - Any other complaint about anything in the world or in your life, thanks! I'll start... how bad is Tiger right now? I enjoy that when he struggles, ever person on TV is a Tiger expert and knows exactly what he should do. The latest was Rocco on Feherty last night: www.geoffshackelford.com/homepage/2015/1/30/video-rocco-not-a-fan-of-tigers-swing-coaches.html

I went to a consignment auction last night and picked up some amazing deals. Fender electric guitar $35, signed Greg Horn drawing of Joker/Harley Quinn $25, wife got some silver tea sets cheap. But my BIG score was for $3 I got a vintage 1981 Tandy ElectronicChampionship Golf handheld game, still in the box: I played a little this morning and can confirm this game has no green chipping, wind waiting, or straight shooting!

I enjoyed talking to a few members last night on the new mumble servers. Much easier to get a read on what people's opinions are of things when listening to them as opposed to trying to read into a comment on screen. Hopefully more get signed up - I can see it being a lot of fun when we get a group or 5 or 6 per room.

Doyley --- No complaints at all. Enjoying everything to do with the game, tours, and forums.
Kewl story here for anyone old enough to remember the people I am talking about.
In the early 1980's I was a young sports reporter for the Ohio University student radio station.
I applied for an got press passes for the Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village.
While standing in line waiting to pick up my badges, there was a red-haired gentleman standing in front of me in line, and at one point he got jostled and bumped into me. When he turned around and apologied, it was none other than my broadcasting idol, Vin Scully who at the time was the 18th tower announcer for CBS. I was absolutely dumb-founded and unable to utter a word.
Later, during a practice round, (as we were allowed to approach the players in those days) I caught up with reigning US OPEN champion David Graham. We were at the par 3, 12th tee, when I asked him if he would have a moment for a quick interview. Graham turned to his playing partner Bruce Devlin, and said in his Australian accent, "Hey Bruce, go ahead a hit a few more to the green, while I speak with this young man" Graham then politely answered my few questions, the whole time looking me directly in the eye, treating me as if I were Peter Alliss or David Ferhety.
By the time we had finished, I noticed that Devlin had hit nearly a dozen balls to the green. I admired David Graham from that moment forward as he was and still is a true gentleman.
That week I also got to meet my all-time golf idol, Jack Nicklaus, but that is a story for another day.
Since this is a "Good News" thread, I won't name names of the guys who were complete ass-holes that I met that week, but if you ask me nice I might let the cat out of the bag.

He is not Tiger anymore. Tiger was the guy who dominated 10-15 years ago. We should just call him Eldrick now. He's not worthy of that designation.

Good call CLV!!
I enjoyed watching a little bit of the golf last night...15-16-17 at Scotsdale is pretty damn fun...what a drive on 17 by Bubba and then he blows the eagle putt!!.....what about the 100+ foot putt Spieth had AND MISSED BY 7FT hmmmm....seeing tiger back is good too....don't get the whole swing coach deal with him....eventually it will come out that he was juicing during his prime (later half) and that is what caused all his problems...mental and physical...the most beneficial aspects of the juice being the feeling of invincibility which is so huge when hitting a baseball or even a golfball...no it didn't give Barry Bonds/Mark Mcguire the hand eye or Tiger the swing or knowledge or work ethic but it gave them a huge mental edge...I CAN DO NO WRONG....say what you will about the steroid era it certainly was fun to watch!!

I'd say Skanksgiving is a far bigger cause of his mental problems He had an air of invincibility that was immediately gone once he looked pathetic in front of the entire world. I just don't see Steroids helping someone make a sidehill 20 footer with all the world watching and don't think he would have possibly done enough of them to cause physical issues either. The story Haney tells in his book is Tiger was doing Seal training and got accidentally kicked in the knee tearing the ACL the first time. Tiger is an OLD man at his age considering how many golf shots he's hit in his day. That is a lot of wear and tear for sure. But this thread is about something fun so I will digress... last weekend there was an hour long special about vonn's comeback and there were countless shots of her doing pt exercises in yoga pants. That was fun and proves even when Tiger misses the cut this week he's winning at life

Anyone ever get stuck in their basement? Some years ago when I lived in Michigan I was in our basement at night and while I was down their someone not realizing I was down there turned the lights off. Couldn't see a damn thing. I tried to get to the stairs but I couldn't, walked around hitting walls calling for help. I was down there for two hours, most terrifying thing in the world. Grown man and I felt like crying. Of course when I finally got to the stairs i'm yelling "yes, yes..thank you."
Still gives me the chills thinking about it..Almost as bad as my lost on top of a mountain at night story but that's for another time.

Two years ago I attended the BMW Championship at Conway Farms. I made my way to the back of the property to the par 3 6th. It turned out to be a great spot so I spent most of the day there.
The great thing about the BMW is that every group pretty much has a big name in it, so there are no major crowds following just one group, and you really get to see a lot more of the great players than you do at smaller tournaments. Growing up I attended the Buick Open several times, and I never knew who 90% of the players were. Tiger was the only player there due to sponsor obligation, so it was impossible to see him without going 3 holes ahead.
One of the cool things about this hole is that I was standing next to the CBS guy whose job it was to figure what club each player was hitting. It's a rules violation to ask another player what club he used, so the whole thing is kind of done under wraps. The CBS guy flashes a number to the caddie right after the player draws his club, and the caddie confirms or flashes back the actual number. Some caddies knew to look right away, others were not as helpful. It was fun to watch the whole thing play out, and to hear some of the stories that the CBS guy had.
The highlight, though, was after Phil came through. One of the players waiting on the tee in the next group was Jason Kokrak. Phil scrambled a bit and ended up making a long-ish putt for par, and the crowd went crazy because it was Phil. Kokrak on the tee: "Nice putt Phil! Anyone can make an 8-footer for par." And there were other sarcstic remarks about how great Phil was, but I could only catch bits and pieces.
So needless to say, I love trying to find a good tee area at a tournament where I can overhear the players and caddies to pick up stuff like that. Heading to Whistling Straits this fall, and probably Conway Farms for the BMW again. I'm looking forward to heading back to my spot on the 6th hole.
