This sounds promising. I think TGC1 and 2 penalised distance too much from the rough. Shots from the rough should be harder to keep in the cone or whatever we call it these days, also spin reduction should be a big part.

There should be more variations when you are in the rough depending on the lie and the thickness. I hated it in the older game because you knew you never had a chance to hit the green in 2 on a par 5 if you went off the fairway. The ball should come out hot or wild, not just reducing the yardage.

I would rather the ball come out left or right rather than taking lots of length of it, only the very poor lies take lots of length off it.

What reasons would a company have against allowing updates? I'm not saying it in the argumentative sense, I'm not familiar with these things how they work. If there was a block from a partner company i.e 2K that would seem like a terrible business decision. Crazy in fact!!! Apparently that’s why we only got a few updates when they were with maximum games but I can’t be certain on that I work in IT as a developer. I remember when i first started, we were a small company and if there needed to be a change for one of our products, we would make the change, test, and push to production all within hours. Now, we got bought out by a bigger company, we now use an agile methodology. If an issue comes up, our business/product team creates a ticket, dev points the ticket (to see how much work is involved), then we have to wait to get put in to a sprint, once in a sprint, dev then qa. once sprint is over (usually 2 weeks) qa gets the release build and has to regress test the release build. then the product gets pushed to production... and the release can only be done on Tues or Thurs... unless it is a hotfix. the whole process usually takes 3 to 4 weeks, just for a simple code change

Updates server side after the patch drops - below from Craig at HBS: Let's keep the speculation to a minimum, now that we have things in place and a timeline for the patch. Here's what I can confirm for you, on the gameplay side of things, that wasn't covered in the patch notes - because these changes will be updated via the server after the patch goes live. We're targeting next week for the following gameplay tunings going live: Trajectories and RPMs increased to align with PGA apex's and spin rates. Surface penalty tunings to reduce the launch speed and spin rates for light rough, heavy rough, and bunkers. These should play between TGC2 and TGC2019 release values. Shot shaper distance affects (loss/gain) reduced to a more realistic range. Accompanying this will be all of the distance charts for base/min/max loft, for all clubs, for all 3 sets. So all the folks who spent the time charting things out already, don't have to do it again. Now, again, this is the plan. We want to get this to you guys asap, but we also want to make sure it's solid before we do so. It's a significant change so bear with us while we get it right. Further swing difficulty tuning is something we're waiting on feedback from the new club tunings before we push forward with that aspect of gameplay updates. We are listening/reading. I'm on here every single day. I just don't engage that often because A) I have limited bandwidth with all the tuning and changes on the go and B) I refuse to promise or commit to something until its a sure thing. I hope you guys can understand that. I look forward to getting these changes in your hands and hearing all of your feedback
This is SUPER promising.

Last thing we did, procedurally, at my previous job, was to bring production deployment into the Sprint too using automated deployments. It was awesome, as we were able to deliver bug fixes in a matter of days, and never longer than two weeks. And this was at an extremely large company. Going from a waterfall model to agile and from manual deployments to automatic deployments was excruciating, but worth it in the end. We were able to be ultra-responsive to our customers.

Does anyone know what time tomorrow the patch will hit? More broken promises from hb. So there is still around 50% of Thursday 4th October left (or more on their side of the pond)
