Good debate. I wish there was a way to only allow Pro or Masters, and not have players lower the level just to get better scores. I love this game but as others have said, it's a real chore at the moment. Was thinking the same thing. A bit of a shame. I suppose in theory we could leave it to "open" and have flighted groups with some being masters and some being pro and just having to go by the honour system. Obvious issues are obvious but I think I trust everyone in here not to mess about. Good shout on the open suggestion. So from next season it will be open!!! I'd like all players to tell me what they are playing and I'll ask thetaffman to update the spreadsheet of everyone's preferred difficulty. That should work for all.... hopefully! |

Since everyone is sharing their thoughts on the swing debate here is my 2 cents. I am all for pro. I have played alot of rounds on master and just feel it is to punishing. I focus really hard and get to -3 just to have 1 bad swing off the tee leave me with 225 yds to green and either I lay up for a full shot or push the ball to the area of a pitch/flop/splash only to have those broken swings ruin my round. That's the frustrating part to me is working so hard to get under par to give it all away on 1 hole bc of 1 bad swing. Now I know this is real golf I understand that. However we all work all day then deal with family/house chores. When its golf time I want to hang out with my friends and have fun playing golf not sweating my ass off just to shot 1 over. If I wanted to do that I would go to the real golf course. Pro is more fun and more relaxing and doesn't leave me feeling drained after 2 or 3 rounds only to shoot 5 over each round. Jumps down off soapbox. Lol

I'll stay here and continue playing no matter what the choice of swing difficulty... You're a bunch of great guys and I enjoy the competition every time I see you up the leaderboards. What I would not like to happen is to compete against players that play on different difficulty levels, that wouldn't be fun anymore... If I stick to master, It would be impossible to compete with pro scores and if I decided to change to pro, a victory wouldn't feel as good.

From what I’ve seen so far everyone is split in pros vs master. I for one am on the pro side. I feel like the good players that constantly shoot under par are the ones saying they want to stay on masters and mostly everyone else is on the pro side. I along with a bunch of people are just frustrated at the game, and some including myself can’t shoot under par which is one reason why we feel like pros are the way to make the game enjoyable once again. My Society The Big Money is set to open for difficulty. Feel free to join and use pro. Could use a few more people as of course with changes play is down. |

I like the current setup on Master. Each tournament its a battle to avoid those triple bogeys just because you have slightly misjudged and landed in a deep bunker 10yds from the flag but regardless I enjoy the challenge. All the Societies I play in use Master. For me the battle is just within my group to try and beat my fellow groupies and that is why I like the S&M setup so much.

I still use master but for the sake of keeping this thing going I like the idea of honoring ones choice to drop to pro. |

I see many points on this all good too. For me putting it to open gives the guys that want to drop down a chance to battle with us masters players. Yes I do sometimes struggle but am sticking with masters and am happy having mix groups of pros and masters. No point spilting to pro and master groups as rhino4life has that in B.o.B. I just want everyone to be happy with a set swing and we can continue having full players week in week out. |
