I'm sorry, I just need to rant.
It's not easy being a fat guy trying to lose weight. I had my first PT session earlier today and literally threw up half way through, even now, 4 hours later, my legs scream at me every time i go to get up.
This whole diet thing is BULLS**T too! how is a guy suppose to live on salad and salmon, chicken and rice, not fried, STEAMED!
No take out food no sugar, no Dr Pepper, no dairy... I use to love coffee when i had milk and sugar, now I can't stand it!
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is working though, in 3 weeks i have lost 7kg (15.3lbs)

It's for the greater good mate. Eating healthy grows on you, sometimes I go a couple of months of eating a vegetarian diet. Keep it up.

When I go down to my Parents place in Florida the one thing you do not see is overweight old people. I am lucky I can eat whatever and never really gain weight. Although I am not a big eater never have been. My mom had the bariatric surgery about 5 years ago and lost around 120 lbs. Saved her life. No way she would still be alive now.
I do need to get in shape again though. Once you hit 40 I have noticed things start going downhill. For me I usually start working out for a couple months then stop for whatever reason then it takes me while go back to it. It is hard to work out all the time. Well it is hard to get yourself to get started. Once I start I am fine.
Anyways good luck man! Hope you stick with it.

Overhead Crane Operator. Those thing have weight limits for the drivers Comes with a 12% pay rise so..... A good reason to stick to it me think

I was 22st 4 years ago and lost 7st.
You can do it mate. This is by far the hardest part. All that's happening at the moment is your brain is resisting the change. If you start eating healthy and the gym, maybe try to quit a habit, all at once your brain initially has a dopamine boost as they return to a healthy level but then it starts looking for the old boosts it doesn't get anymore. When it doesn't find them it starts trying to blag you that this is too hard, it's pointless, it's to late damage is done etc, ride that out and it gets easier. You start looking better your more active you have a lot more energy. Eat right and it falls off you.
As far as the pain goes, that's called DOMS all you've done is used muscle groups that were previously dormant. Have your protein drink have a pain killer and battle on.
It's great that you spewed, you pushed yourself beyond your limit
Foodwise I'm not a fan of all that macro nutrient talk what worked for me is having carb rich food when on a training day and reduced carb foods on non training days.
Good luck mate

Lol, sorry, I meant June 30th I failed a physical for a promotion at work on June 28th that's what started my effort. I wish you the best of luck in your goals, it's hard work and I'm sore almost every day, and hungry but it's worth it in the long run!

I recall reading a post from a guy on the old Tiger Woods golf forum on how he lost weight.
He had his treadmill in front of his TV. He then would play 18 holes on Tiger but in between shots he would walk the yardage. I thought that was a cool way to get exercise.

That does sound pretty cool, though I REALLY don't want to turn my playstation time into exercise lol

Have only just clicked this thread, so forgive me for any omissions of previous comments.
Anyway...I'd be remiss to not mention 1 very important thing for someone in your apparent position - don't fix yourself to outcome. Frankly, ignore your daily/weekly weightloss or whatever else you're measuring on that short of a timeline. In the end, whatever your loss/gain was for any 1 week/day doesn't matter, it's where you end up at the end.
Easier said than done, I understand, but it's a core concept of commitment to the process that will serve you well. Think about the things you need to do to be more healthy, not the things you need to measure to feel like you're being healthier. Hopefully that make some sense...but I can't say it enough - it's all about the process, and if you commit to it in full, you'll look back and have a great sense of personal achievement for having done so.

This post kinda hits home with me
I was a very small child... I got injured in football at the age of 11 (Helmet to the side caused a blood clot behind my liver) I had surgery almost died on operating table but eventually got better.... Funny/sad/weird thing happened, right after this surgery I began to gain weight, didnt eat any more than ever was always active and into sports but the weight kept on climbing
I graduated high school around the 300 lb mark...I was 5'11 at the time... Yeah as wide as I was tall.... About a year after I graduated I grew to 6'4 and lost down to around 197...to be honest I loooked sickly...huge rib cage tiny waist for me at that size.... Anyway I continued to play ball .. I went to work at my current job in 1997 at 230 was in great shape..I began in dispatch on third shift all I did was eat and sleep I gained 103 lbs in 9 years.. I ballooned to 333 lbs and became type two diabetic...
About a year ago at my doctor he said "If you lose 50 lbs ill take you off all the medicines (diabetes medicine, high blood pressure meds etc) So that day I just stopped eating as much I eat everything i used to eat just not as much... I weighed in Sunday at 253 so thats 80 lbs in a little over a year I took MYSELF off all that crap... My goal is around 235-240 as I carry that quite well...I do work out with weights some but I dont kill myself doing so, also coached football up until this year that I believe helped in the activity department
with all this rambling said, you can do it with minimal changes, you dont have to starve yourself some sort of activity and portion control will work.. Im living proof of that.... Ive got a ways to go but Im getting there..
pulling for you Chris... you got this brother....After a couple more sessions of PT the soreness will go away and you will long to be doing that and working out... Its a great feeling...
Terry

Terry Grayson B.Smooth13Thanks heaps for the comments I'm about to say something that I never thought I would of in my life..... I LOOK FORWARD TO GOING TO THE GYM!!!!! Yep, feels weird saying that lol. The PT sessions are getting easier, well not easier but I'm not throwing up anymore lol. I can't really notice the difference looking in the mirror, but the scales don't lie and I have gone down 2 notches on my belt. Also, seen my mum on the weekend, first time in a month and the first thing she said was "Oh my, you're losing weight! I'm so proud of you!"

I used to Run on my treadmill at 7.0 mph while playing Madden/ESPN 2k5. I game was usually 45 minutes. I also played RPG too. Looking back not sure how I didnt kill my self. Wired controller and all. No room for the treadmill now so MIL has it. But I still play mobile games as I run or do HIIT. Makes the time go by faster for sure.

Its a great feeling... Terry Congrats man. I too am trying to lose weight. back in 2011/12 I was 182 and 9% body fat. Now I am 215 and close to 30 I would say. I am depressed, out of breath and close to being diabetic and high blood pressure. Last month I started slow. Just walking everyday and tracking food in myfitnesspal. I dropped 8 pounds as of today. down a belt notch too. While I changed the way I eat I still eat pretty much what I want but log everything. That way I know what I have eaten and what I have to eat to keep under 2400 cals. While I have been lifting its hasnt been 3 days a week, only when I have the energy. But my plan is to get a 3 day lifting routine going as well. I'm doing a 5x5 plan and it only takes about 25 minutes. Hopefully by the end of the year I can be around 190. We can all do this.
