I've titled this as for PC designers only, because it's the only way it could work, unfortunately.
Do you have an unfinished course that you've lost interest in, or an older design that you think would be neat to have rebuilt? Send me your course file and I'll work on completing/rebuilding what you started!
Having just finished a complete overhaul of one of my previous courses, my slate is clean, but I also don't feel like I'd be able to start from scratch and bring it to completion by the time tgc19 comes out. So, if it sounds like something you'd be interested in, let me know! I would also be more than willing to throw you an old course file for rebuilding, which is the same course swap that yielded Indian Pass G.C. from Kessler's original Indian Run CC and can be a really fun cooperative designing process.
This idea popped into my head this morning, so I figured I'd go ahead and put a feeler out there to see if anyone is interested. If it's not for you, then no worries, just thought it could be a fun project to take on in the waning phases of TGC2.

Hey Justin
Great idea for a thread.
I have been having similar thoughts recently about wanting to design but with the new one around the corner I felt I’d be wasting my time.
Unfortunately I do not have any incomplete courses but I’d love to tinker with one if you have one or anyone else wants to offer one up that is not yet finished or is at a standstill.

. If I had the PC version I would definitely do this. I noticed your comment about being able to finish a new course prior to 2019. Will we not be able to port over unpublished courses from TGC2 to 2019??

They will want to get straight into it.

I only ask, because I have about 4 courses in various stages and won't have any done prior to the 2019.

You'll be fine, I don't see why it would be a problem to port over incomplete courses to the new game. You'll have to publish them in TGC2 in order to import into '19, just like we had to with TGC2, but I don't think it would be an issue as far as getting the terrain/layout over into the new game. My statement about not wanting to start fresh is because there are some potential complications that you could run into. I started Albany in TGC1 in delta theme, but when I brought it over into 2, there were some changes to the delta theme that resulted in me having to do a lot more cleanup work. I suppose that would have happened anyway had I finished it in TGC1, but still...it was an extra pain in the ass. I also brought over a course from TGC1's countryside theme, and in TGC2 it messed up a ton of custom trees - both changed the type of trees (like when you switch from swiss to tropical, e.g.) and the size (some were HUGE). So yes, you'll be able to bring over incomplete courses, but there's no guarantee that they will be the exact same as you see them in TGC2. Hope that makes sense!

B.Smooth13 , I have a catalog of TGC1 courses that I didn't have the motivation to port over and bring up to higher standards. You could pick from any, depending upon how much work you wanted to put into them.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I suppose I'll have to get cracking on these then and at least get them along enough to publish and then see how they survive the port over. Is 2019 coming out next month??

Well...that was a lot quicker/easier than I thought! I've been generously offered by staypuft39 to finish up/rebuild one of his older tracks, and I'm excited to get started. Thanks to everyone who chimed in - and if there's any other PC designer out there with no ongoing projects that doesn't really want to start from scratch, and is interested in rebuilding one of my old courses, shoot me a PM and we'll try to make it happen.

I've got a complete 18 hole course that I've never published and have lost interest in. I always find it easier to just start over then to try to fix all the things I'm unhappy with.

If you're looking for more courses to give the treatment to, I'd be happy to offer up Pacific Pines. I've got a beta published, but I've been unable to finish it as I'm struggling with figuring out exactly what I want to do with it. I've gotten essentially nowhere after 6 months, so passing it along to someone else is probably a good idea.
