I've been thinking about starting an RCR, This is my favourite course in the sandbelt (Melbourne, Aus) Its just around the corner from Kingston Heath and is 8 the membership price lol. Any tips for creating RCR's?? P.S, I thought about Kingston Heath, but there's NOOOOOO way I'm confident enough to attempt those bunkers!

BTW That's K.H top left of the photo! Best way to design is use Google earth to layout measure in the course. Then a load of sculpting. I use the fuzzy oval and fuzzy I use mainly to sculp. And a lot if time and patience haha....

I'm working on an inspired by version of Kingston Heath right now. Good to see someone else looking to make a sandbelt course.

You must have some serious bunker skill to even attempt those bad boys, I was tossing up between royal melbourne as well for a while but capital won out. Because that's where I got my only hole in one in real life!!! (shameless self brag ) You will have to let me know when you publish it so I can have a play.

Well iv'e finally got the holes mapped out and basic bordering with the trees, I wont have to worry about elevation too much later as there's only 3 meters change over the whole course.

OK time fr an update. I've almost completed the sculpting on the first 5 holes, whew! Talk about giving the brushes a workout! I'm tagging VctryLnSprts Terry Grayson coruler2 PithyDoctorG ErixonStone Crazycanuck1985 reebdoog because you guys have been amazing at helping a complete noob learn the ropes! Never would of got this far without all of your help/input/feedback/tips/support (I could keep going lol) Edit: please ignore all planting or lack there of, the trees were just to give me a frame, not touching planting until TGC2019! lol Heres an overhead of the course. Hole 1. Hole 2 Hole 3. Hole 4. And hole 5 (made famous by tiger acing it about 15 years ago!) And just a couple of real photos so you can see what I'm aiming for...

That's a nice looking course you're trying to build. A few little things. 1) The uniformity of the trees really stand out. Want to vary the heights and sizes. Also looks like they are floating in the air. 2) You can probably afford some higher, rounder, smoother bumps around the outsides of the traps. 3) On that 5th hole, you can lower the front of the bunker on the right and smooth out the outside. Flatten out the land around the water and it should start matching up the photo pretty well. Looks like a fun project! I've never been bold enough to try an RCR, so really like seeing these threads of the process. Good luck

I should of made a side note to ignore all of the planting or lack there of, they were just to give me a frame, havent touched that side of it yet and wont until TGC2019, from what I'm hearing I would have to redo it anyway lol

Great start Chris!
I am doing my local course as an RCR as well (my first ever design). I will have to get some of the same tips and tricks you got. I will try to get a thread going this week for some help.
Can't wait to see it when it's done!
