I have a couple questions, would like to just get some expert opinions on.
I've been playing now, about a month, maybe two. suffice to say, I've played TGC1, now TGC2, but never much more than just casual games here and there until I found this awesome way to compete with others at my own pace. I had a Logitech controller, which I loved, for my other gaming, but it wouldn't pass the fair play, so I borrowed an Xbox controller from my son to play with. I've gradually been getting used to it.
Question 1 - I've read all sorts of posts about people saying the controllers are different, have problems, get worn out, etc. This controller I have borrowed is from my son, who got it from a friend of his. I have no idea how old it is. I'm currently doing horrible, I'm consistently at the bottom of CC-Z. I have flashes of brilliance, I had my best game yet in the Sultan of Swing tourney, R3 I finished +1 with two eagles! yeah! but then... I turned right around and had a horrible R4, all because of a couple holes I couldn't put. I was still hitting a lot of things in the red cone though. But the night before, I couldn't hit ANYTHING in the cone, and was double and triple bogeying every hole as a result.
So I guess my question is, how do I figure out if its me, or if its the controller. I honestly thought it was me, until I start reading all these threads claiming controllers have problems. I dont' have a problem with acknowledging its me, and trying to get better, but I have limited knowledge of how controllers are supposed to work, so I can't tell if its me or it. To me, very fast, fast, perfect, and very slow, feel like the exact same speed on the downswing, when I get those. So I don't know what to do.
Question 2 - All that said, my son, has offered to get me a controller (and give his back I'm sure, haha) for fathers day next week. Are there any recommendations on which would be the best? I play on a PC, on steam. I really liked the layout of the Logitech that I have, because it had the joysticks in the Sony format, that I like, but the buttons were colored like the games show you. Does TGC2 show the sony buttons if you get an xbox controller? I hated it when a game says press yellow Y button for this, and I look down and I have a bunch of shapes instead with no colors. I've read that the xbox ones are more durable, but I've also read that they wear out.
So if anyone would like to give input, I'd greatly appreciate it!
