Finally got an idea of a name although subject to change if something better comes to mind. I've got 11 holes laid out and playable, and still picking up tips on the way round. So I've had to go back and apply the tips to existing holes. I'm tempted to start object placing to give me an idea of how it's going to shape up. Not looking forward to planting as I just can't seem to get it right.
The course will be split into three different surroundings of countryside, suburbs and city, with an emphasis on hole layout and different types of objects to go with their surroundings.

I am not familiar with this competition, but this name grabbed my attention. I assume this doesn't have anything to do with real life, or does it? I live very close to the Illinois State (ISU) campus in Normal, IL.

It's a fictional course I'm afraid but hopefully the name will jump out to others as it's jumped out to you. The contest is an elaborate contest where designers have been split into teams for parts of it, then will go up against other courses kinda in a ryder cup style format. It's the first one ive entered so it'll be interesting to see how I do and how it pans out.

Ive got 2 more holes (16th & 17th) to lay down before I go back and look at sorting out some other holes, maybe even redoing them again. I've decided to copy an idea from Jason White when it comes to naming courses by using one word to distinguish my courses, although he uses his initials.
So future courses of mine in this vein will all contain "wolf", I know there will be other designers' courses that will have wolf in the name. But I'm hoping with posts on here and on hb's forum players will know which ones are mine.
I'm also going to try and incorporate a wolf's paw print into all such designs. I don't know how it's all going to go but just thought I'd try a kinda signature element to my courses.

The fairway on the 5th The green approach on the par 5 9th hole The 14th hole's fairway which cuts through a residential area. A short driveable par 4 3 tiered green finishes the course off on the edge of the city. Work is still to be done on all holes and background.

Leaked footage of the last 6 holes have been found online. We have obtained the footage shot from a drone and have used it for our own promo video.

It's amazing the difference a few tweaks with settings and lighting can do to the look of a hole BeforeAfter

Having just played Wolf Trail I can tell you that in my opinion it is well above the "novice" standard it will compete in during the early rounds (at least) of the Survivor design contest. My only constructive feedback would be: Using the players clubs from the back tees I came across a few too many blind approach shots. Try to shape your fairways into the mouth of your greens & select just 1 type of rough to surround your green side bunkers. Apart from that Celtic Wolf you can be very proud of what your have designed & I can only echo what others have already said. Well done & the best of luck to you.

Thanks Sam for your feedback it's good to hear positive feedback and advice from other designers. Blind shots seem to be a problem that I'm having over a couple of courses. I'm sure I seen a post on here about different roughs around bunkers, so that's something else I'll look into as well. I think when designing and playtesting you see your own course that much that you end up doubting it, I think that familiarity can breed boredom. Thanks again for the play and comments and all the best for the contest.
