Simply put stop now.
As a hardcore M/kb player I learned certain tricks to make the m/kb work because the graphic lagged, the cursor disappeared etc etc.
I dabbled with the controller in early access, I have an xbox 1 that I have played exactly 1 round of golf on, so in early access it was easy enough to plug the controller in to the PC.
Well I'm exactly 8 rounds into the full time use of the controller now, as you can see from above, I don't think I'm hurting as a result, but there is a learning curve.
So here is my tip, forget the xbox 1 controller, it's more solid etc maybe, however get the 360 controller, I have heard no 2 controllers are the same, seems true to me, this 360 controller at first was a bit worrisome to me, as when I first plugged it in and went to play, each and every shot was dead straight. I had to work to get it off line. Calibration in windows fixed that, but it is real easy to hit straight-ish, seldom veers far off line. You just move it back, short pause and move it forward to the top and boom. If you get the occasional 95% start the game 1 graphic setting lower. I'm down to low now. Low looks pretty good now, been a while since I seen low, but I wonder when that changed. I get dead straight, maybe 5 or 6 shots a round, close to straight extremely often. It's real easy, far easier then the m/kb. TM's, better watch me close now.
Also its far more accurate then the mouse and keyboard, but like the m/kb it does seem to occasionally jump off line, but it's only occasionally and by only a small amount and maybe 2 shots a round, not per hole as was the m/kb.
Also you will need to figure the putting out, I thought immediately at first I was going to be screwed, I felt like a duck out of water. But round after round I quickly got the hang of it pretty good. The controller has a huge advantage as the golfer movement is almost 1 for 1. So for putting you can either use the graphic or timing for the putting, whichever works best for you.
I also like the controls, still getting used to them, but it's far faster then fiddling with the m/kb.
So there you have it, like me turn your $3800 PC into a $350.00 console.
I have been assimilated.
