Looking good. That being said, I would seriously consider putting a layer of rough between the fairway and the bunkering. Looks cleaner and much more realistic. It's not a usual practice for them to cut the fairway grass down into a bunker.

Same as what Griff said. A layer of rough between the fairway and bunkers would do the course a world of good.

I suspect adding rough now will be a pain. I'd get rid of the fairway mowing pattern so the edge isn't as obvious.
The mowing pattern is only easily visible on the greens at Tara Iti.

Sweet, I'm always happy to see another NZ course.
Tara Iti is rated as a course som something inspired by that will be the NZ National Treasure!

This looks great. Getting the transition between fairway and bunker on a course like this is hard (where there's no real rough to speak of but it's not exactly pristine like a fairway either. No Laying Up has a great photo/video tour of Tara Iti. I would agree with coggin66--lose the mowing pattern on the fairway. taraiti.nolayingup.com/

Thanks for the feedback and advice! It is really tough to recreate the exact look I want for the course; fairway that transitions into sand/natural areas (i.e. Tara Iti, Pinehurst No. 2, and Streamsong). A few of you suggested changing the fairway texture which I did and it really helped a lot. It definitely looks better and helps with the natural look I'm going for. I'll add a few updated pics of the new texture soon. Hopefully extra planting helps as well.
Question: Best way to test courses before posting them? It sucks doing it in the vacuum of the designer but don't want multiple versions of the course uploaded. Thoughts?

It sucks doing it in the vacuum of the designer but don't want multiple versions of the course uploaded. Thoughts? Which platform are you designing on? If PC you could pass the course file to someone to test play, if console publishing a test version is the only choice (which you then can't delete) When I designed on console I didn't test publish for above reasons, but did publish a video of a hole being played to get some feedback.

I'm using PS4 so it looks like a test publish is my only option. At what stage is it a good idea to give it a test run usually? I wouldn't mind having people give it a play but don't want it to be too rough in spots and therefore lose focus on the playability features and look too much at the "extras" even though it's still a work in progress.

I'm not sure there is a simple answer to that question, it is a personal one based on what you are looking to get from it. What I found useful is stepping away from the course for a few days then going straight into a full playtest so you are looking at it with fresh eyes. That being said everyone will have a different approach/perspective, there is no right way just a way that works best for the individual. Not a helpful answer, sorry.
