HOLE 11 GRAND NATIONAL 501 yards Par 4 The Grand National is the world's most famous steeplechase and apart from a driving range in the middle of the racecourse nobody would think it would have anything to do with golf. Except this is Quirk Park and the out of the ordinary is what this course is all about. The 11th at Quirk Park sees four of Aintree's famous obstacles incorporated into the design. Golfers have to clear adaptations of a plain fence, Beecher's Brook, The Chair and The Water Jump between tee and green with The Water Jump very close to the green and Beecher's Brook very much in your mind from the tee.

HOLE 12 FARM 468 yards Par 4 The 12th hole plays over and alongside a farm. The farm is of course out of bounds so with the boundary fence to the right of the fairway and then playing over the sheep's field into the green, care and thought is needed to make it to the green safely. No animals were harmed in the designing of this hole. Please keep it this way when you play it. This hole was originally going to be called Body Parts. Then I thought that children frequent this forum and play the game - even my daughter who is 3 in August has the occasional go - and this isn't Macon de Saille so I changed to a farm themed hole.

HOLE 13 DROP 186 yards Par 3 With a huge drop down from tee to green, club selection is going to be vital as you play down to Quirk Park's triple green for the second time. Judge the wind, choose your club and cross your fingers it's right...

HOLE 14 TWIN OAKS 178 yards Par 3 A high shot is nearly to clear the two oak trees that are on line with the green from the tee. While these two trees do not block your view of the green they will certainly make you think about the shot you need to play into a green which is shallower on the right than on the left.

HOLE 15 SPAGHETTI 476 yards Par 4 Our final par 4 is a lengthy dog leg left that plays into the triple green for the final time. It needs a carry of over 200 yards to reach the fairway from the back tee and the main quirk and difficulty of this hole is the width of the fairway at around only 12 yards for the duration of the hole, hence it's name Spaghetti. You need length and accuracy to score well on this hole.

HOLE 16 TINY 132 yards Par 3 Quirk Park started with three par 5s and this is the first of three par 3s to close the round. It is Quirk Park's shortest hole and features a tiny green that is slightly smaller than the famous Postage Stamp 8th green at Royal Troon. This is target golf at it's finest.

HOLE 17 CARRY 223 yards Par 3 A tough par 3 where you have to carry the water to get on the green and the water is close to the green. It will be far better to be at the back of the green with a long putt back than short and having to hit over again. The green has reasonable depth to it and is very wide, giving different angles to each pin even from the same tee.

HOLE 18 FOUNTAIN 198 yards Par 3 We close with a par 3 with a lovely greenside setting. There is water left, right and behind the green, while the view over the green sees the first tee and the clubhouse behind. Also prominent is a fountain that sits between the bunker and the front of the green while the green itself features a couple of significant slopes. There are all 18 holes at Quirk Park. All I have to do now is add the finishing touches to the course surrounds and do some playtesting. I have added three more sets of tees to make four. With luck I might get to publish this weekend.
