One thing that I have found helpful in Google Earth is changing the image date. You can see a lot more of the undulation detail in the 2nd pic. That's something that never occurred to me thank you sir

yeltzman that link is a godsend. I've been working on the first, seeing if I can match the contours up. It's not perfect but it' a big improvement on how it previously looked. Plays a bit harder aswell. The bunker on the right sits at 280 yards and the slope now sends the drive towards the bunker unless the accuracy is really good. I think it's safe to assume that's what the architect had in mind

After finishing the first 3 and seeing how they look I had to purchase the rest of the strokesaver guide. It's only £8 aswell. They take their time getting round to it tho!

After a good months worth of sculpting the course to the r&a guide I bought I feel like it's nearly there. Its just a case of making it look nice now.
I've released a 18 hole beta called
Royal Porthcawl 18 hole BETA.
Feel free to play, comment good or bad. All feedback is good.

It's blowing 15-20 mph out there at the moment, think i finished 3 under,Amazing how a real course plays in winds like that, understand the course design.Thought the 15th green a bit severe to the right landed on green and ended up in bunker, and the 17th 531 yards par 4 wind was against not sure if its a par 5,But overall loved it what a week for links golf on tgc,Troon, preswick and this Great stuff.

17 should definitely be a par 5 (assuming Stowey has set it as the members' hole numbering - they play that hole as the 18th when they host the senior open (starting the course on the actual 18th)
15 - the green itself (from real life memory) shouldn't slope off too much to the side, but if you do miss it right, it drops off quite severely down that side

I struck lucky there with the wind direction. The 17th is indeed a 5 I did that on the 15th twice, I think it need amending so it's not so severe. Thanks for all the help

Your right about the 15th. Nice one for the feedback

Hey Stowey, really nice course. I saw something that you need to fix. I don't recall the hole number, but there is a green complex that green and part of the fairway are sitting straight in the base terrain, with no rough around them.
I can tell you it's a hole where the fairway ends a few yards before meeting the green

The 9th hole is the one that Pablo has commented on btw.

Thought you might like some feedback and most importantly pics to show where you need to attend to , Pics Link below mate to check out, click the down arrow top right in Google Drive drive.google.com/open?id=1itCwual-bvpJ-UVLbXkxXuyQUG6HWbqrIts a bugger that TGC Designer puts out those aweful sharp edges, what can you do Semi rough edges in areas have sharpish points on them, maybe round the corners off a bit As shown there are lots of textures areas to fix up as well Surrounding the bunkers edges- some sides show the mown areas as too thin Remember the Mower man principle, mower widths all around, some areas are too thin Fairway sections in places look too steep, maybe try and make them more subtle, juts a thought anyway for you to take a look at. Hope this helps you out Cheers

Hope this helps you out Cheers That's some fine info, the pics attached are great. I'm going to do all the semi rough again with less waypoints. I need to sculpt the fairways a touch in places. Some of the bunkers need moving to their proper position based on the course map. Thanks to all so far for taking the time to play and comment. It's given me food for thought
