Why do I have a strong feeling you are working on something epic? I hope I'm wrong (kidding, I hope I'm right).

I have no idea how this is going to turn out actually. It’s slow going. 9 holes down but constantly revisiting them. Some feel good but look off, some look good but feel off... hard to find the right balance

The hardest part is making it interesting without being able to use a lot of plants or even stones. Iceland is all about contrasts in terrain and using landscape...so I’m trying to keep it from being boring but I’m not sure it will work. I know the last time I did that I lost (buzzards wake)

Boring isn't exactly the word I'd use to describe that. Looks awesome.

Sand traps making every hole "pop" ... not to mention the lighting.

still only 9 holes down... but doing some cleanup and polish and they are a solid 9 Holes. Planting on this is still a mystery to me...but it's ok without for now. No pics...just an update. :-) Feeling better about it as it goes along. STill LOTS to do.

Reeb, I'll tell you this. I've just now started to play and design in TGC after being away for almost 3 years. The advancement in skill for you top tier designers is insane. However, with that said, I've noticed that aesthetics have passed design when it comes to course creation. There have been some gorgeous courses that I stopped playing after about 5 holes because they were just boring or were flatout god-golf. Sure that water feature that someone spent 10 hours making is nice but why is this 200 yard shot to a plateau postage stamp here? So, with that said, "F**K Plants." Just do your thing and I know it'll be awesome.

Just do your thing and I know it'll be awesome. I feel you 100%. However, Golf is a visual game and PART of that is the environment. I won't generally let a "view" dictate a hole but will instead make a hole I like playing and then Fiddle to get the look right. Don't worry about having an unplayable course from me. Usually my courses will yield low scores while at the same time cause some guys to cuss and scream. I have a feeling the score spread on my tracks would be among the widest out there so... don't sweat me letting the looks get in the way. That being said I still think the setting of the course can make a "meh" course feel good but it can make a good course feel great...and a great course? Fuggedaboudit!
