Wasn't sure about doing a WIP thread for this course, but I love seeing the updates from everyone else so I think it's only fair I give a couple teasers of what I've got so far. Hoping you other competitors keep doing the same...should be a fun grind to the finish. Probably working the fastest I ever have on this course because I really like what I've got going...and it's still very slow...roughly done 5 holes at the moment. Here are holes #1 and #3

Looks amazing! I especially love the airport, since I had played around with the idea of making one, and never quite got a result that I thought worked. This is exactly what I had in mind, and it works/fits perfectly! Love the second hole as well, though I'm not sure about the skyscraper personally. I feel like it'd just distract from the hole/vista that you have there.

My idea is to have a winding river down on the bottom level there, with a city (Based on Kinshasa) in the background, but not completely decided. Going to play with sculpting and see what I can do...gonna focus on the course first though (I get distracted too easily). The airport should be fun though, I have some cool inspiration there: chrisguillebeau.com/abandoned-airport-in-congo/

I had no idea it was based on a real city, makes sense. Also, it'll be interesting to see how similar our two courses are (or aren't). Same theme, same lighting, similar styles, different places.

Up to 8 holes almost done now, as I'm trying to keep momentum going ahead of the big Myrtle Beach trip coming up, where I'll be away for a week. Liking the course, but am still undecided on a few major routing decisions. Probably have the best hole I've ever done down right now (#4), and maybe the worst...so will have to fix that up, ha ha.

Ok, kind of a non update-update, as I don't have any new pics...but made a major breakthrough a couple days ago. Re-numbered the holes and re-routed some stuff and now have a much better flow and a much better finishing stretch than previously anticipated. I've mostly completed 8.5 holes now, so I'm feeling pretty confident moving forward. Hoping to have some pics of the new opening par 5 in the next couple days. Happy with how things are coming together!

Have been able to do some more work on the course, and have really been feeling good about it. Toying with the name "Virunga National", but still not sure. Also still not sure about the city in the background. It will be a surprise...or something. Anyway, here are a couple pics from the new hole #1.

Aside from a couple small decisions on #10 and #16, this course is laid down and at least partially sculpted! Got a hell of a lot done over the past week with my wife out of town. Planting will likely be a b%&, and a lot of off-course work to do...but it should be worth it...I hope. Loving what everyone has going on so far and I'm digging this challenge. Here's a new teaser of the par 3 8th.

Last update was slightly cryptic so here's the latest. Been working faster and longer than ever before on this one, and I'm really liking the result so far. Legitimately have 17 holes done to tweaking point, with 1 hole left to redesign a bit and re-do green. After that it's secondary planting, sculpting and more playtesting. Feels very nice to be at this point with a couple weeks to spare, as last contest I was much closer to the deadline. Still at least a week away, but I think this will be my best course to date.
Still waffling on a damn name though.

If you think this is your best work, then consider me excited. Recently made a long, long overdue visit to El Pistolero and thoroughly enjoyed it.
