Lining up my next RCR project after completing Crans-sur-Sierre and I'm going to stick with another gem from the European Tour - The Majlis Course @ Emirates Golf Club. Looking forward to the challenge this course will bring, especially with the unbelievable backdrop thats on view in Dubai. The Majlis course plays host to the Omega Dubai Desert Classic which has featured on the European Tour as far back as 1989, and has had a host of winners including Seve Ballesteros, Tiger Woods, Mark O'Meara, Henrik Stenson, Rory McIlroy, to name a few. The flagship course at Emirates Golf Club, The Majlis championship course is a challenging par 72, 7,301-yard layout. Designed by Florida-based course architect Karl Litten, the original 18 holes were built in and around the dunes of a beautiful site on the edge of the city of Dubai, donated by His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on whose instructions the desert flora was maintained in its natural state. When development begins, I will start to share progress images here, but for now im stockpiling all the information I can to complete this course to an excellent standard and have it ready for the next season if RCR World Tour.

Just testing out some themes to see how I can best replicate this, desert and trees are my main worry at the moment

Seeing as all the sand in the pictures is perfectly manicured, you can probably do something like Tropical for the tree choice and replicate all the sandy areas just using bunkers.

The desert theme has palm trees like tropical (at least I think lol) and steppe has more delta-like trees. So IMO, go desert

Tropical offers a flat background which is really handy

I think tropical is your best bet. Flat backdrop + palm trees, I think that's really the only option to get both of those, right?

I struggled with picking theme for that one though, so I feel your pain!

Course is coming along very nicely! I think you made the right choice with theme, the setting looks really fitting for the irl look. Keep it up!

Ya definitely was the right choice, been watching as much footage as possible and I can definitely get away with using mulch as the desert based on the firmness of the desert so your shots should only really be hindered roughly 10% as opposed to the variables of 10 - 50% if I used the bunkers. Its also a completely different colour/texture to the bunkers so wanted to create that separation. A lot of thought went into it 😂😂 Will have a front 9 beta published soon for testing. Greens are going to be slick but not unplayable

How are you getting on with Royal County Down Good, ive just been in testing out textures, doing a small bit of mapping out of the layout just to get the course flow accurate. Once ive the front 9 of the Emirates done and a beta of that published im going to get to work on the front 9 of RCD in full flow. Want to publish them both back to back when completed
