Finished all my rounds, as I got in a lucky streak with the wind. Around 3-6 all rounds. The 2 first rounds on the "easier" setup was good, started of with a semi-ok 64, followed it up with a nice 61. I was determined to do a practice round on the difficult setup, but exited after the first hole as I got wind about 3-4 mph, and would check if that was the case in the tournament as well. It was, so I finished my rounds instead. Some REALLY tough pins, close to edges , but also some very accessible ones, so overall a nice setup.. Made 65 on both rounds, I am happy with that. I am not sure what holes I missed on, but a couple of places I landed within 2 yards of the pin, and it just rolled/bounced away! (I think hole #6 was one of them.) Started to get somewhat frustrated, but that ended with a perfect flop on par 5 #14, 1 yard past the pin, and spun it back for eagle. So, overall I am happy, had some frustrating moments, but also some lucky bounces, and hope I make the cut, and some points. NB, I think course layout should not change between rounds. I love different pins and greens firming up, but I think it was on 18 there was a new mound in the middle of the FW?

Pulled a hammy early round 1, was +1 through first five holes... (I blame the Greenbay Packers NFL game)

after an average first 2 rounds my future is in the balance. With my only objective for this week was making the cut and earning my european tour card after being given a sponsors exemption to play here. I would say im looking good to gain my card but u never no with alot of people shooting really low numbers and not even half the field has teed off.Only time will tell if my -21 will be enough. Fingers crossed. Good luck to all the other exempt players!!

Another final round choke. I can't believe I'm that guy.

Annoying when you just lip out for birdie and end up about 25ft OFF the green, should never happen... Great course but IMO spoilt by silly pin positions in last two rounds

Annoying when you just lip out for birdie and end up about 25ft OFF the green, should never happen... Great course but IMO spoilt by silly pin positions in last two rounds One or two were very silly - like you I just lipped out for a birdie and ended up an absurd distance away from the hole - got a very annoying bogey. However, I do like the more difficult pin positions in rounds 3 and 4. Just don't make them crazy.

I loved it personally. I hope this is the diretion the tour takes. I think we need tougher courses on tour as a whole. I'm no where near the elite players here and I shot a 57 in round 2. Rounds 3 & 4 were much more realistic scoring rounds.
My course is being used in the next tourney and I suspect the cut line will be close to -20 with the winner ending up around -60 overall. The course is just way too easy for this group of players. I'm not complaining, it's fun to see my course used but I thought I had submitted it for use on the Champions tour.
The latest trend to make courses playable for all is great, but for this tour I think we should look into asking the designers to toughen them up for tournement play. I know I would have been happy to have made a TGCT version of my course (firmed up my, moved some pins around) and really made it play more in line with the talent that will be playing it next week.

Oh, dont take my 58 away from me! (My new PB from today on your members course)... No, seriously, Im not sure it will help toughen it up. The good/great players will still be best, and score about the same, maybe 2-5 shots less. But the NOT-SO-GOOD players, like me, will shoot 6-10 shots worse, at least, and then what is the point? What I think will happen is that you just will separate more between the good and the not-so-goods.. Leave the course as it is, maybe toughen the rough up a bit, and by all means, change pins, but DO NOT put them in impossible places, because that just sux. If you make a good shot, and it bounds of 20-30 feet or more, just because of a bad pin, that is worse than an easy pin. IMO.

Well, if we don't want the good players to win then we may as well play with the handicap system.
I'm not saying make the course unfair or anything. I just hate feeling like a par is a round ruining score.

Ah, dont misunderstand me. The good players will win anyway. But tougher courses will only gain the good players.... I think. But for US Open and some special tournaments, be my guest, and make it as hard as possible, without being ridiculous...
REgards, J.
The HCP system is just crap, and I really dont understand why it is there, but that is another topic I guess..

The last 2 rounds ate my lunch. Opened with 63 - 60 then shot 70, 70 with new pin placements. So frustrated. I need a stiff drink and some time to sulk and regroup. lol If I end up missing the cut it wouldn't be the worst thing.....my choke rounds won't count. No doubt though...it was much harder.

You know when you should have gone to bed instead of deciding to play the last two rounds. Well guess what I did? My third round I played awful, but managed to eek out a decent round with some excellent two putting from distance and smart up and downs when I needed too, just a silly bogie on 16 spoiled the round.
The last round I played much better, but the old putting woes returned. I shot about the worse score I probably could have considering my approach play, the putter just went stone cold on me. It started with a missed easy uphill 8 footer on 1 and didn't really get much better.
I think this course (the pin a version) is fantastic, it really tests your game. You have to absolutely find the right spots to leave your ball, otherwise it is so difficult to make par if you get out of position.
I seemed to find those positions regularly. Three times I had to play a flop shot on the green as there was no way of getting it anywhere near if I putted. Although the wind wasn't too strong 4-10 mph, it always seemed in an unfriendly direction.
I hope we get to play more difficult courses like this in the future, not overly tricked up unfair ones, just tough. I enjoy the challenge far more when you don't feel like you have to shoot 59 every round to keep up with the leaders.

Heres what I faced on the 3rd green in both my 3rd and 4th rounds Ended up about 20 feet away with the putts, made birdie in the 4th round. The front 9 killed me in the last 2 rounds, only got 3 or 4 birdies. Missed my spot by a yard or so with about 6 approach shots so was just off the green with a large slope to chip down. Annoyingly enough I went birdie, birdie, eagle (flopped in from 30 yards off the fringe) to take this picture from yesterday. Played the rest of the round and parred the rest of the front 9 ending up -11......where was that yesterday?
