Thanks! The Press Tent will be a feature on TGC Tours where you can come in after a round or tournament and answer some questions from the press. You can let off some steam or tell about some great (or not so great) shots. Some of your answers will be used in Tournament recaps. Have fun, keep it clean! Questions (answer as many or as few as you like) - What was the highlight of your round/tournament?
- What was the low-light of your round/tournament?
- What did you think of the course?

Blaylock Round 1 56 (-15)
Mr. Blaylock struts back to the clubhouse after finishing up on the 18th, headed for the 19th to grab a beverage, BOB OF ALL PEOPLE PULL HIM TO THE SIDE:
Mr. Blaylock, can I have a minute? umm, sorry, i dont carry cash on me.
I don't want your money, I want your words, what was the highlight of your round/tournament? Oh, I thought you were some random bum, my bad BOB. I was just out there having some fun, that was my highlight.
What was the low-light of your round/tournament? Getting pulled off to the side before I could grab that ice cold dew BOB.
What did you think of the course? My favorite of the csu courses, its fun to play. Not the easiest or the hardest, it does have some bite if you miss your shots.
How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat? Sitting in first for now, but all the big hitters have not posted their rounds, say BOB, how are you sitting on the leaderboards? I mean, how did you get that chair up there? Anyways, I was trying to beat the Tomahawk Record, I failed as usual.
Now that I have the mic BOB, let me say this: I came into this tournament with more confidence than ever, I knew I play very well on this course, and wanted to show everyone what I could do........hey come back here BOB......BOB Tiger walks by and BOB follows
Blaylock continues to walk to the bar to get his dew, swearing the whole way there (at BOB).

Chris tries to tiptoe past the press tent, something he has done successfully for the last 2 weeks, when a keen-eyed reporter notices him. Before Chris can get away the reporter sticks a mic in his face.
Whoa, whoa, whoa there slick. What is with the Marshawn Lynch act? You haven't talked to the press since the season started! I know, I know. My apologies. The season hasn't started out as I wanted it to and I've been avoiding talking about it.
A missed cut to open the season in South Africa and a T60 finish at the Sony. Not exactly bursting out of the gate eh? Geez, you don't pull any punches! Yeah, it hasn't been great. I've not been playing enough to keep my game sharp and that is showing in my scoring. I wasn't pulling it all together. In any given round I'd drive the ball well but then putt for shite. Next round I'd be making bombs on the green but would be all over the place off the tee. My approach shots were pretty consistently abysmal the last few weeks. I don't remember the last time I'd had a 'kick in' birdie...until last night's round that is.
Yes, a 58 to open the Humana. That was the third best opening round score! I saw that. There are still some great players left to post their first round, but I'm very pleased with how I performed.
Let me get to the stock questions so my editor doesn't kill me. Highlight of the round? I can't pull out a specific highlight, but I was really happy with my quick start. I came home from work, poured my standard post-work, extra strong adult beverage and jumped into a practice round at Tomahawk. Shot a pretty uninspiring -8 but decided to get my first round done for the Humana. Things started off much better than my practice round and before I knew it I had birdied the first 6 or 7 holes. I don't think the streak ended until the 8th hole. From there I just tried to keep the momentum rolling.
Was there a low-light of the round? I had 2 lip-outs. I tend to believe that those usually even themselves out. You usually make a putt somewhere else in the round that you probably shouldn't have made, but in this round, I'd say my score could have been 2 strokes lower. I didn't really make any 'gift' putts. So those 2 lip-outs are a bummer.
What do you think of the course? It is really aesthetically pleasing. I think the design work is really nice. I'm not a huge fan of the greens though. I think the amount of slope right around the holes is a bit over-done and unrealistic. Having a foot of break in a 3 foot putt is a bit silly. Other than that though, it really is a cool course. Each hole has good character.
How did you fare on the leaderboard? Anyone you were trying to beat? Round 2 scores were just posted, so now I'm well down the leaderboard as I haven't played my second round yet, but last night I think my score had me in the top 5. That was pretty exciting. I'm not trying to beat anyone really. I don't think I'm good enough or consistent enough for that. I'd just like to play the golf I know I'm capable of.
A career-low 58 is a great way to start. Are you capable of keeping that going? I doubt it. So far I've proven that I can put together a low round, but usually only 1 out of every 4. I'm going to try my damnedest to avoid my usual drop off, but if I don't, I'll still be pleased knowing I showed that I have the skills to shoot a competitive round.
Thanks for finally answering a few questions. Maybe don't be such a stranger in the press tent. Sorry again. I'll try to be better. You guys really should try to slip a mic into the locker room. Guys are really chatting it up in there!

Blaylock Round 2 60 (-11)
Mr. Blaylock, How do you feel about your second round? If there was a round where I lost this tournament, this was it. I struggled to find that grove I had in round one until it was too late, put a ball in the water costing me an eagle chance, and lipped out quite a few medium putts.
Hey were you going?
/Blaylock walks back to the clubhouse in a calm swag.

You aren't looking happy after your first round, what happened?
Just some silly mental mistakes. I had been practicing bogey free golf all week and come out today and had 3 bogeys!! 2 from a poor approach shot that found the waste area and one putt I was out about 30 feet and my initial putt only went about 7 feet, I must have hit the ground before the ball. Still a 60 (-11) is respectable, tho without those bogeys i'd be one off the first round lead.
So the winds are low, are you going out to shoot your second round?
Not right off, I need to re-evaluate my round to make sure I don't repeat with those bogeys again. I only missed one putt I should have made and missed one easy chip so aside from the bogeys I didn't leave much out there.
I saw you were playing with Jimgem, how was that experience?
Humbling. I don't think I saw him make a single mistake. He left a couple putts just shy of the hole, but not by much. I could have sworn he was drinking motor oil instead of Gatorade out there tho, the guy is such a bot, never showed hardly any emotion, even with that nice eagle on 10.
Do you have a favourite hole yet?
Two actually, #2 i have actually aced twice now. It sets nicely up for getting it close if you hit it right. #10 is an easy par 5. When I fail to eagle it I almost feel as if I failed.
Do you think you still have a chance to win?
I would need to put up three rounds of -14/-15 I think to have a chance. Anyone can have an off round and shoot -10 or -11, but few of the best will have more than one round like that. Anyway I'm off for a steak dinner.. Oh you see what happened to Tiger? Poor guy, really should learn to duck those cameras.

Did I just see you play your next official round?
Um.. yeah. I went out expecting it to be a practice round but after my par on hole 1, the Marshall confirmed it was the official start of my second round, which surprised me as I didn't really take my birdie putt on #1 very seriously.
That is an unfortunate start, how did you do?
I took a few minutes to gather myself and hit my second shot a foot away from the hole. I birdied the next two, chipped in for eagle on #5 and was 8 under at the turn. I barely missed an eagle putt on #10 and a birdie putt on #11. Found the bottom on 12, but once again lipped out a birdie putt on 13. Lipped another eagle on 17 but finished strong on 18 for a 58 (-13). It is amazing how a matter of inches that -13 could have easily been a -17.
Will you make the cut?
I think -24 is a lock for the cut. It will be nice not to have to sweat it this time. I think with a good score on moving day I can put myself in contention.
Good luck to the rest of you.

Job, how are you feeling about -15? I'd like to say that it's disappointing to probably miss another cut, but really, I feel like I played pretty well. Bogey free golf through two rounds is a good personal standard. Especially with those two adventurous pars on 10 in both rounds...they should feel like bogeys but after hitting two in the water, they really both felt like birds.
What's got to change for you to start making some cuts? My putting, plain and simple. I hit almost every green in regulation, and left myself plenty of chances, albeit above the hole. I left a couple short, blew a couple past, and just plain misread 2 or 3, too. Need to get out on the putting green this week with Dave Pelz and see what the guru can get right for me.
Beautiful course, though, isn't it? Just gorgeous. Tomahawk is one of the best desert tracks out there, and has withstood the test of time. I'm not sure why people think this course is so easy. I've never really been able to figure it out. The greens are tough for me and every hole feels like a tight driving hole, even if it isn't, in reality. I've got a lot of respect for this course, I just wish I could tame it.
Headed to Phoenix? Yeah. I'm going to take a few days when I get there to take in some of the Super Bowl festivities and enjoy that atmosphere, before I get back to the grind. I need some relaxation, clear my head, and come out prepared on a course where I've had some past success.
Good luck next week, Mr. Fickett. Thanks, and good luck to those guys finishing up this weekend.

Of course I haven't seen winds in the single digits yet either...which makes it tougher. I knew this course would be my kryptonite.

Chris sits behind the microphones, eyes darting back and forth, looking a bit nervous.
Well, you are back. Decided chatting with the press isn't so bad after all? I told you I'd be better about visiting you guys. Plus, talking to you after my first round seems to have been something of a good luck charm.
Do you say that because you're currently tied for 7th going into the weekend? Pretty much. But more than that...I fully expected to follow up my great opening round with a really weak second round. I'm notoriously bad at posting good rounds back to back. But instead of imploding, I followed up that opening 58 with a solid 60. I'm showing a little more grit.
Why the shifty looks then? You look like you stole something and you know you'll be caught. I didn't really think I'd be in this position and I am sweating it like a whore in church.
What was the highlight of this second round? I really turned it on after a slow start. When I opened with 2 very uninspiring pars I thought I was bound for the let down I was expecting. Somehow I started stringing birdies together and when all was said and done I had a nice scorecard to turn in...with one silly blemish.
I'll bet that was your low-light? My god yeah. I don't know what the hell happened. I damn near snap hooked my tee shot on that last par 3. What is that? Number 16? I had pulled a few drives during the round...
Rare for you, right? Very rare. I tend to have a smooth baby fade off the tee. If I miss, my miss is always right. But for some reason I had a few drives leak a little left on me throughout the round. Never enough to get me in trouble though. Then out of nowhere I pull the hell out of my tee shot on that par 3 with a 5 wood. Had the right club in hand with the wind, would have been about pin high if I'd hit the green, but instead I was lucky to catch a piece of that bunker, if not for that I would have been down in the ravine! I was rattled and ended up with a bogey. My only bogey of the tournament.
Could have been a special round. It really could have been. Following up 58 with another 58 would have been amazing, but I'll take my score through 2 rounds for sure. I didn't really expect to be this far up the leaderboard on this course with these awesome players.
How did the course play in round 2? The wind was up during my round. I was feeling it though, using it to my advantage. I'm usually not great in the wind, but today I was. I hit a lot of quality irons to give myself good looks at birdie. And the putts were dropping.
What are you expecting over the weekend? I know the guys at the top of the leaderboard will keep going low. REAL low. I'm not going to be able to keep up with those sorts of fireworks, but I'm hoping to string together 2 more solid rounds and stay in the top 30.
Thanks for the chat fellas. I've gotta get back to the day job, but I'll swing by and give you some time after I get my Saturday round in. Hopefully it'll continue to be a nice underdog story and not a "who the hell is this guy? oh, he is that guy that was in the top 10 for like a minute" story.

Hello, what you want to talk to me?
What was the highlight of your round/tournament?
I would have to say my consistent play. I put the ball in the right areas of the greens and made a few putts.
I imagine you must be happy with your scores?
Yes, I did not expect to post 2 59's, considering during my practice rounds I was shooting 64's and 65's.
What was the low-light of your round/tournament? It would be the par on 10 after putting it in the water.
How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat? I am near the top so I am pretty pleased about that. We will see if I can keep it up on the weekend when the stakes are higher. I don't set out to try and beat any one player, I just try and shoot as well as I can. If I happen to beat my pal Mayhem (Steve) that is a bonus.

Blaylock Round 3 56 (-15)
/Big crowd of media swarms Mr. Blaylock as he walks off the 18th green
Reporter Joananetta asks first: Mr. Blaylock, how were you feeling today? I was feeling quite good today, got all my confidence back, watching my competition falter really gave me that boost I needed, and I just kept it going from there.
Reporter Bob asks next: Blaylock, Blaylock, what did you do differently today than yesterday? Nothing, things just went my way a little better.
Reporter Skip asks: How do you feel about your chances tomorrow? Do you think you can pull out a victory here? Well I hope I feel good about tomorrow, but to answer your question, I have no way of knowing, we will just have to wait and see, but I do like my chances.
A fight breaks out inside the media crowd over the microphone, Bob gets kicked in no-mans-land and goes down, Joananetta raises her firsts like she killed a lion, Skip runs for cover, and out pops reporter Joananetta with the microphone
Mr Blaylock, are you looking past tomorrow and into next week? Are you sure you are a reporter,...i really do not see a name tag, security!
Security escorts Joananetta back behind the yellow tape
