Does anyone else have this issue? Using a PS4, and/or a PS3, controller for the PC, I tend to get tempo right, but I am constantly fighting the battle of pulling hard left. The cone indicates this as my common miss. Sometimes I'll push it so far right as well.
Would love to hear about some of the methods, if any, that you guys have used to get a more straight "push" on the stick. A note, I am using the right analog stick for my swings...should I go with the default left stick instead? Thanks!

Look at the PS4 controller when you swing. The edge of the touchpad (not the D-Pad) aligns perfectly with the center of the right stick. Use that as your push/downswing reference.

Do you know if it is better to "flick" the stick forward or push down and hold? I'm not in front of the game, but was just curious.

Bring it back towards 5.30 instead of 6 o clock and see if that straightens you out 👍

Get a swing "feel" that works, as you would irl, and try to replicate it. Easier said than done obviously, and I will still lose the "feel" every so often, but when it works it's great. Here's my example of what I mean by "Feel" :
I envision my thumb movement similar to my irl putting stroke. For that, I have a small forward press/hinge, open the blade coming back, and then drag the back of my left wrist through the contact zone while imagining the tempo of a pendulum with the putter blade closing right at the bottom (point of impact). In tgc, my thumb feels as if it hinges back and opens up (press and backstroke irl), then going through the ball, my thumb moves forward PLUS my wrist kind of rolls in a very subtle way (wrist feel through contact irl).
Now, the thing about this is that what I just tried to explain probably makes sense only to me - at least I wouldn't expect anyone else to understand the "feel" that I have, nor know how I visualize the "feel" mentally. I could see how it would seem like a pretty odd idea to some people in an abstract kind of way, but it strangely makes things easier because once you find the feel, and are able to replicate it, you can start focusing more on your strategy than your swing. The times I've enjoyed the game the least are when I lose my feel and have to constantly worry about if I'm going to miss right or left or wherever, and basically taking time to setup a shot becomes pointless - rendering the fun of playing the game kind of pointless, which I think is what a lot of the people falling out of love with TGC are struggling with.
You said your miss is usually left (me too!), so figure out a feel for that miss and play it. That's literally my playing style - a few warm up swings to get the feel, then just aim right of where I want the ball to end up.

An in-tempo flick that's really hard to explain. I definitely do not push and hold.

For me, it feels like the back swing is much more important than the forward swing when on tempo. Too Quick or not dead straight back and bad things happen.

That's literally my playing style - a few warm up swings to get the feel, then just aim right of where I want the ball to end up. Thanks for the explanation, that is definitely tough to do, so thank you for taking the time to explain it the best you can, B. I see what you are saying...it's like a forward press essentially, right? Do you start the forward press as a way to "swing" into motion...or momentum rather? I had tried this, where I move the stick up then down to make it a "smooth" transition. Results were hit and hope and a bit out of sync. Thanks, Jeff. Do you know if it is better to "flick" the stick forward or push down and hold? I'm not in front of the game, but was just curious. I flick, but not a real fast flick. An in-tempo flick that's really hard to explain. I definitely do not push and hold. Yeah, I've tried both and flicking seems to be more consistent. Holding it down makes me want to push up too soon and then even moving the stick in the wrong direction. It's a bit awkward. For me, it feels like the back swing is much more important than the forward swing when on tempo. Too Quick or not dead straight back and bad things happen. Dead straight back is something maybe I need to look at, and tweak closer to Ray's 5:30 from there. ----- I tried the suggestions at lunch, and results are mixed. The best result was looking at the controller and ensuring the swing as in the alignment of the left outer edge of the right analog stick. Here I would miss with a push rather than a pull. Eventually it wasn't consistent though and I found myself with the pulls. I feel like the stick itself is so sensitive. I know I'm using tour clubs, but that should just affect the tempo right? I also tried left stick swing and results were the same. It's overall very strange because I have been playing this game for so long (beta tester) and never had these issues till recent. I had been using my old PS3 controller, but that finally bit the dust. The PS4's range of motion is a bit more limited compared to the PS3 controller, which I thought would help me. Is it possible the software that I use (DS4 for those familiar) that could be impacting its sensitivity/direction? Just thinking out loud. Thanks guys!

I had a similar problem. My USB plug into the controller was sloppy. On a hunch I bought a new one that connected firm and it stopped the random hooks and slices.

I think you guys are right about the backswing. However, I just shot +1 on the Wowie course for next week's TST and it was quite a lot of fun. My focus was on not pulling back all the way to the edge of the analog stick's ROM. This made the push (downswing) much smoother and I was able to get in the cone a lot more consistently, albeit still a bit to the right - which is much better than pulls.
So, for now, it may have been fixed. We will see come tournament time. Bout to give it another go for 2nd rd pins to see how I fare.

It won't be perfect or straight all the time, but just knowing you can get it right more times than you get it wrong changes everything. And if you know you can fix the swing when it goes wonky, then the enjoyment of the game really grows.

My swing gradually got worse to the point I had no confidence. That is when it turns ugly. Got done and hit 100 balls on the driving range. You have to fix it soon or it's tough to find it again. Especially the confidence.

Eventually I'll be able to turn off the shot feedback again as I prefer to play golf vs golf swing. For now, I've been able to put a bit of a baby draw as my swing is a push fade, but I change the direction slightly left. I've also sacrificed some power on the drives to get in more fairways. Knowing that I'm not using the full ROM for the stick means a shorter backswing, but a better strike. The game is a lot more fun when you have confidence in your swing. I’ve noticed that you don’t even have to swing right through on the downswing you just need to go past the centre point.for me if I hit the front of the slot I tend to hook so I feel as if I just flick the stick just past centre but I make sure my backswing is straight.
