I can’t take it anymore. No matter what I do with this game I just can’t figure it out. There have been times where I spend hours at a time at the practice range and can’t do sh!t. While I do still suck at putting, my issue is tempo. I mean, what feels like the EXACT same swing to me every single time has produced so many consecutive shots that go from perfect/perfect straight to fast/very slow. I just don’t know what to do.... it’s seriously mind-numbing to try and diagnose and fix it. So please, just give me a tip or two. Thanks in advance.
As you might have heard/read, I'm was struggling badly over the past few weeks as well. So I definitely can feel the pain. So next drink is on me, okay?

I go back to basics when I lose my swing. I tried many things when I first picked up a controller to get a consistent swing. When I found something that worked for me, I built on it. When I lose my swing, I repeat that building process from the basic form that first produced some consistency in my swing. YMMV. My method is described below. For me, it was switching from a chess piece thumb and index finger grip to a thumb-only grip, resting the right handle of the controller in the crook of my right hand and stretching my thumb out straight to the bottom edge of the right swing stick. I watch my thumb on my backswing to ensure I am pulling straight down, glance up to see my avatar start his swing, then look back down at the controller to ensure my thumb pushes straight up for the downswing. To ensure perfect tempo, I always take 2 or 3 full backswings with no downswing get a feel for how fast I need to swing. Taking practice swings doesn't work all that well for me because I lose the sense of the practice swing by the time I leave practice mode and get back to active mode. In time, I generated enough muscle memory to be able to concentrate on the ball on-screen during the entire swing. The PS4 controller has a tiny bit of tactile feedback when you pull straight down. If the backswing isn't straight, then there is no feedback. When I lose that muscle memory and don't get the feedback on my backswing, I go back to watching the controller until my hand responds like it's supposed to. This method works for me when I change from my v1 PS4 controller to my v2 controller and vice-versa. The difference in feel and response between those 2 controllers surprised me, but now I'm confident with either one. It does take me about 3 or 4 holes of play, or about a half hour on the driving range to get consistency back when I switch between the two.

I find that description interesting Jeff.
I say that as there is no way I have time to look at controller, look at player then look back at controller again without getting S/S

This is all beginning to border on witchcraft and superstition...if it weren't so disheartening it would be comical.

Golf IS bordering on witchcraft and superstition at times, and more often than not disheartening. So just means the game in a way is doing an OK job with what it set out to do.

I find that description interesting Jeff. I say that as there is no way I have time to look at controller, look at player then look back at controller again without getting S/S "Look back down at the controller" is a poor description -- my apologies. I hold the controller vertically in front of me, with the trigger and shoulder buttons pointing at the ceiling, and just low enough to not block my view of the screen. My "glance" at my avatar is almost done out of my peripheral vision; I certainly don't take the time to focus on it. EDIT: Thank you for saying my earlier description was "interesting". You could have very easily told me I was full of s*&%

I often take down all ladders, lock the black cats out of the house and stick pins in my Tiger Woods action figure before I start playing TGC2. On the first tee I mutter something like, "Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble..."

Struggling with inconsistencies myself and after playing this week's web tour wondered if lag played a part? Either graphical or internetical? Didn't seem that smooth and just got me thinking.....

Was playing a round today and I hit a chip from the heavy rough onto a red slope. The chip pretty much stopped on that red slope, then released like any shot would on a red slope. Honestly ridiculous.

[br I was struggling with the tempo on player clubs until a friend told me to hit them the same as if you were hitting std clubs. Took a while but it worked and does for tournament clubs(just need more practice with those) Also take a practice backswing or two to get rid of any swing glitches.]

And now for something completely different, TOUR CLUBS! at Frostwood CC R1 tomorrow. I played a round at Bearded Pelican -3 but have some bad flops.
