Work has begun on the Miracle at Christmas Lake! (I’m set on the name to feel free to edit it into the OP) I’ve had an idea for a Christmas course with that name in the back of my mind for quite a while, so when Eric messaged me that there was a winter spot open, I thought why not? So I don’t cover up completed course threads with constant WIP posts, I’ll probably just edit any pics I want to share into this one, but aside from that I’m excited to work on this project!
12/18/17 Today I learned that it’s just a little hard to plan out textures and hole layouts with the distance tool in the winter theme... white and yellow don’t exactly work well... lol

Since I planned out the entire course ahead of time, I’ve been able to put in all 18 greens with almost no fairways lol... I think getting those done, however, will be really nice for the future when I’m working with retaining walls and water. I’m gonna have to use some weird designer mechanics to pull off what I want to pull off, but I think the end result will be good. Going to work extremely late tonight since I’m going to miss a day or two of work with the holidays coming up. Hopefully I’ll post some pics soon!

Okay, this will be the post where I put all of the pics Considering I first opened this plot 5 days ago, I’d say I’ve made pretty good progress. It may look like a flat plot to you, but in my mind I can see exactly where this project is going... (Hint: it may or may not have mountains)

So today I realized that I have problems with priorities... rather than working on some hole layouts that need to get done, I spent the day adding to my course ideas note on my phone and starting a new RCR. The majority of the 100 of them will never get done, but it confirmed my point that I love wasting time. Hopefully I’ll have some update pics by tomorrow...

Those update pictures I promised... Front nine is all laid out. I'm starting to think I didn't go fantasy enough, but I need to get to get going on this course in order to finish before the deadline.

Final update for a while as I don't want to clog up the Completed Courses board... I was feeling inspired this afternoon and finished all the hole layouts. Technically, I have a 100% playable course right now, but it's extremely flat and monotone, so even if I were to publish, I wouldn't encourage playing it...

Beginning to regret starting flat... really hard to sculpt. Front nine is coming along nicely though.

Update time! Lots of boring sculpting and a name change later, this project is starting to come together. I have no clue what I’m going to do with hole 8, because the water feature I had plan totally f*cks up the land around it. Here’s the inside of some of the “custom retaining wall” I’m making so it doesn’t have the land on the back of it (those of you who work with retaining wall know what I mean): And what it looks like from the outside (you can also see some of the sculpting I’ve done in the background- the flat area will be done after I finish the water): The new name, Frostwood Country Club, or it’s initials rather, may or may not be a jab at the FCC for stopping net neutrality lol... Anyway, while I definitely have work to do, I’m feeling good about where the course is right now.

Here’s the direction I’m going with light rough: Not a consistent cut, but it also doesn’t just end. Cart path/fences/water will be borders for it.

Aside from the water feature on hole 8, the entire front 9 is planted and sculpted! Estimated release date is Jan. 26 or Jan. 27, depending on if it’s after midnight or not lol.

Just wasted an entire night of designing lol... after doing some work on holes 5 and 6, I started on the water near hole 7. I thought I saved my work after 5 and 6, and I tried a retaining wall on hole 7. Thinking the past two hours of work were saved, I changed my mind on the wall and exited without saving so I didn’t have to delete all of the walls. Unfortunately when I went back in, I discovered I hadn’t saved. Yeah. More work to do in a week and a half!

Oh no! It doesn't get much worse than that, especially in the last week or so.
