Are any of you guys having trouble with lighting? When im designing at it will get dark at times as if it has become dusk. I check the setting and it shows Noon. Change setting and it lights back up for a bit and then will turn duskish again. Really weird. I am on PS4 if it matters. Thanks ahead for any help.

You're getting clouds moving over your course, thus making it dark from time to time.

You can use the high clouds if you want something other than clear skies. Tbh, I almost never pay attention to the clouds while I am playing unless there's an intentionally hazy or foggy look.

What Grif said. When designing, I always set the time to noon and the clouds to zero. It's a pain to have to remember to fix it later, but then you don't get shadows on your course or dark surfaces when you're trying to sculpt land.

I prefer to set the lighting almost immediately. This helps me when sculpting the land so I can see how the finished hole will look.
I've done it the other way, but I usually have to change stuff after I set the lighting.

On a related note to the OP, has anyone got any tips for getting a low cloud, foggy, misty, rainy look like you could get in TGC1 in the Swiss theme. I seem to get some combination of the following: - Too much cloud and then it gets way to dark to see the course properly (other than the fluoro green gridlines) - A thick brown smog instead of a white mist/fog - Too much sunshine like it shouldn't be raining.
I can't seem to get that diffused white light you can get on overcast, drizzly days.

I set my lighting to 0915 with an inclination of -14 or just 14. Can't remember which. Helps me with sculpting of the land and bunkers. It also hides how sh%$ me course is. 😂😂😂
I always move the sun's orientation around to be always looking into it while I do my thing.
Coming along decently. The light won't stay that dark when it's finished, but it's worked wonders on what I'm trying to do.😊😊😊

I've been trying to get a misty, foggy look for my current WIP, and I've gotten some good advice from some folks who have done it well (Wayne Adams on Jasper Trace), but I agree with what you're saying. If I play with fog density or fog ceiling too much, it turns everything black instead of foggy. I don't understand. I've posted for advice over on the HB forums recently and not a single person has responded to me.

I'll check out Wayne's course in game but looking at the pics on the thread he seems to have that orange smog effect that I don't want.
