The Se7en Club takes its name from the strangely shaped (but of course totally natural ) rock formation in the lake by the 9th green.
Influenced heavily by Alistair Mackenzie, so expect many two-tiered greens and (mostly) wide fairways, but the overall length (7410 off the back tees) will still test players especially if you do go offline.
Several risk-and-reward holes allow the aggressive player to gain an advantage - but multiple hazards will punish the wayward shot. Three sets of tees, each aimed at one of the club sets, are complemented by four sets of pins - based on the tour's 6-6-6 philosophy (so you won't find pin 1 easy, but pin 4 tricked up)
The signature hole is the par 5 12th hole - can you drive over the famous 'Se7en' bunkers to set up a potential eagle?
Would be most grateful if karma4u could do the honours with some pics - his will put me to shame with their quality.
Par 72
Yardage:
Blacks: 7410
White: 7062
Green: 6669
A quick walkthrough of the course:
1st: A tough start - a long uphill par 4 to a raised green
2nd: A downhill par 3 with a shallow green set diagonally from front left to back right, with bunkers both front and back.
3rd: Another long 4 - with an option to carry the water to the second fairway. The green is tricky as it slopes away from the player
4th: The longest hole on the course at over 600 yards - but with the tee shot landing on a downslope, it is reachable - and certainly should improve your driving distance stats if you hit the fairway!
5th: The tightest hole on the course - the challenge is simple - keep it out of the trees. If you do that, it is only a short iron to the green.
6th: A risk-reward tee shot - if you want to cut the corner over the water. The safe tee shot will leave close to 200 yards, while the brave one may leave just a wedge - your choice!
7th: A straighforward long par 3.
8th: A 90 degree dogleg which MAY be reachable under the right conditions - but with water lurking, is it worth it?
9th: A long tough finish to the more difficult front 9
10th: A long par 5, again possibly just reachable, but the lake will come into play if you take that risk. Otherwise, you have two fairways as options, depending on the pin location.
11th: A shorter par 4 - hitting the fairway is important to be able to find the correct tier on this green.
12th: The signature par 5 - can you carry the famous 'Se7en' bunkers which will allow you the option to attack the green in two - but beware the water short and right. If hitting driver, beware hitting into the club owner's mansion on the right - Out Of Bounds is very close to the fairway!
13th: A driveable par 4 surrounded by bunkers and some water - a really good eagle chance here.
14th: The shortest par 5 on the course - but severely uphill and a tricky green to hit with a long club.
15th: A short-ish par 3, cut into the side of a cliff. Miss left and you are in deep trouble.
16th: The black tees play from the top of the cliff, making a straightforward dog leg right hole harder than the straighter front tees. Accuracy is a premium - so driver may not be the best choice of club.
17th: The final par 3 - a sharp drop to a slopey green
18th: Like the 9th, the back nine ends with a 500 yard par 4. The drive is threatened by a stream and bunker, and the stream continues to surround the 2 tier green on 3 sides. Par is never a bad score to finish - although you will definitely expect to have made a few birdies on the back 9.
I hope you enjoy the course - happy to receive any feedback as to what I could do better next time (please remember this is my first course).
