I figured for this challenge I'd go more in depth into the WIP thread and give some insight into my ideas for the course and design process. A quick Wikipedia search shows several places named Coronado, the ones I'm considering include California (would probably go tropical or delta for that) Arizona (Steppe or Desert) and Alberta (Boreal). I'm assuming the California location is where the name comes from, but I don't necessarily want to limit myself to the obvious choice. I have a course that I'm about to push out the door so it might be a day or two until I really dive into this, but in the meantime I've been fiddling with some ideas, and looking at real life designs for some inspiration.

It has no connection at all to a real life course. I know what I had in MY mind when I wrote down the name, but not based on anything in real life.

If you go the California route....
this is Coronado island (and the golf course).. behind that is downtown San Diego.

So, I quickly discovered today that I don't have the patience to paint, nor do I have the patience to work on the finishing details of Timbrelle. So, I played in the designer a bit. I want a bit of a more rugged, naturalistic feel, and I want the course to have a timeless feel, like it's been there a while. Couldn't get inspired in either Tropical or Desert, in the delta theme it just felt like I was recreating Pewter Dunes, and ended up with this as a little prototype first hole. Might wait a bit to commit to it, but I think something like this is the front-runner so far.

@griff, what program do you use for the logos? I have something sketched out that I could whip up in inkscape, but it's been awhile since I've used it and I'm always happy to find something easier.

Based on those pictures I would stick with that, I think it's a really nice look. I loved Pewter Dunes, so don't go down that road again too soon, let yourself differentiate and spread your wings.

Whipped up a second hole. Wasn't sure about making two Boreal courses in a row (was really considering an Autumn one) but I think I'm feeling this idea right now, and I'm going to roll with it. Now to layout/design the other 16 holes.

I've done some work on this over the last few days, and I've got a preliminary layout for the full 18 holes. Most of them have nothing down except the tee/waypoint/green, so obviously it can change. Right now though, it's a par 70 with 3 par 5's and 5 par 3's, playing at about 6,900 yards from the tips. 6 or so holes have been designed and put down on the course.

More work over the week, I'm finished with about 10 holes at the moment. Played around with a few planting ideas, but haven't done any serious planting or detail work yet. Still have no idea if I want to do any off course set pieces. Nothing is jumping out at me. Also considering the idea of building a little 9 hole pitch and putt on the plot, since I've got plenty of room, and it'd be something a little different. Hole 8, first par 5 on the course: Holes 7,8 and 9:
