TGC2
How do you hit the ball out of the heavy rough/fairway sands? I mean... pros deal with this every hole and can still crush a ball. But in TGC2 you're lucky to get out and go 130 yards.

I am new here, but I hope I can help It seems to depend on several factors: Lie (Your % in the top right), club choice, and swing accuracy. If you are using tour clubs, which I will assume is the case, you will likely have to club up to compensate for the decrease in power you will have from the heavy rough/bunker. Depending on the distance to the green you may have to club up by one or two clubs from the "normal" distance to the pin. Here is an Example (5 Iron Bunker Shot), I will run through my thought process when figuring out this shot attempt: - The pin is 181yds away, up 12ft in elevation, so about 185 in theory - It is a standard sand lie, my ball isn't buried. So I'll likely lose about 20% of my shot power - I do have some wind behind me (7mph), so my shot will carry a couple extra yards - Since there are no hazards in front I am going to run my ball up to the pin. With the sloped green and the lack of backspin I aim for ~165yds. - I club up to the appropriate club to reach that distance and take my shot.

Deloft like a mentalist, basically. Don't be afraid to go way down on it. 150 yards, 75% lie, take out the 142, deloft a good few bars and pray.

To put it simply, trial and error. Seeing what works for YOUR swing and then copying that next time. Repetition. There are parts of my game that just keep getting better with repetition.
I think the key is learning what you CAN'T do.

Aim way left, i mean way left so when you hit your righty banana hook it will hopefully find a good spot. 😂😃

Anytime I hit it into heavy rough or sand I will ALWAYS take about 6 practice swings. I do this to gauge a feel for what the swing will do, THEN I compensate for the direction and blast that b%& into oblivion. 😏😏😏😏😏

The game doesn't seem to like you hitting woods out of rough although this works irl. Try a hybrid with loft. Bunker shots it only lets you hit an iron out of there, everything else doesn't work although it does irl.

I have a good idea: avoid the sand in the first place!
Joking aside, I have no clue...

first, tell yourself you'll be lucky and happy with a bogey now. Second, get an adult beverage, and take a couple drinks (trust me you're gonna need something to calm you down), third aim about 40 yards left of the fairway, grab your nuts, and close your eyes. That should do it...good luck!

I found that you have to do as most of the guys have said, check the lie, bunker face distance, wind and then try and hit it as straight as you can but don't quit on the downswing, even if it's 10 yards try and hit it firm and sharp but don't slow down the downswing.

Personally, I have found flopping out of greenside bunkers to be disastrous. I try and use the chip or pitch shot.
