I've completely lost my mojo in the designer. The stupid thing crashing on every platform every 30 minutes isn't helping. Done until the next patch. Love all the new features but cant deal with the spinning ball freeze on PC. The PS4 bug (stuck in play testing) is even more annoying. Frustrated! Good time to take a forced break though. Recharge the creativity battery.

Rotate trees isn't possible because of LOD issues. When the trees aren't high detail they are billboard and the billboards are created for one angle. That's my understanding. Interesting, didn't know that. Unsure why HB made them billboards though when the rotate-able items aren't. Have to agree with Jacob! here... I have used Unity in the other game to design, currently using ver 5,2,3, waiting for ver 5.5 We can rotate Trees, we can down load them from speedtrees, plant resize and rotate them, lower them into the terrain-sink them in , any other object for that matter, no problems there You dont have to be a programmer, just have to know how unity works which takes a little time to know your boundaries with it . We usually add 2 plane lower res trees in the distance Spline tool is a bit awkward and cumbersome in tgc2, in the other game you freehand draw your splines- No controller use though- all k/b and mouse ATM for greater flexiblity/options then hit the button, done, up to you if you want sharp or smooth shapes. You can rotate/tilt the water planes as well, really up to you want you want to do So Hb can add these options because they have been available for some time in unity, hopefully you guys will get them down the track

The PS4 bug (stuck in play testing) is even more annoying. Is This the issue where, you press the OPTIONS button to bring up the menu, but you cannot cycle through it and select anything? If so, press the touchpad on your controller so it clicks.

Only thing I really don't like is that I no longer have a single button to go back to the main menu within the gncd and when I select a tree or what not I can't change the type used using the l1 and r1.
Oh and building fences is a lot more tedious using the menu instead of just l1 and r1 to toggle fence part.

lots of good new features in tgc2 designer, and lots of old bugs still there as well.
the bad:
kinks from splines (also seen in tgc1 from cart paths), but with a little know how, this can be completely overcome. kinks from heavy rough vs light rough, this has been there since day 1 of tgc1.....wish it would go poof be gone. texture transitions......this is one of my pet peeves, sharp lines outlining said textures, instead of installing opacity slider to control how sharply or smoothly the transition is. auto generate functions are still included, thus thousands of crap courses will and still exist, why HB why??? auto generated textures serve next to zero purpose to the game as a whole, and it really really makes the game look super bad to players who find themselves on a auto generated course first and not a true design. themes,......why do we have themes??? why can't we just be given a plot of land, and let us decide all the goods: background, textures, foliage, etc etc. 1 theme to rule them all. polygons, or "mesh" (you cant see them, but they are there) ......this controls how effective we can sculpt, mainly sharper edges. we need a tighter mesh, approx 100% tighter would be ideal to get near 90 degree edges for better sharp edge sculpting, this is a unity limitation grasses, not really talking about the actual plantable grasses, rather the visuals of the heavy rough. i hate it, hate it hate it hate it. would love a slider to adjust length of heavy rough from a visual standpoint, and tie that in with ball lie. if this alone were to make it to the game, the designs would be instantly better. textures vs water........this absolutely sucks how water breaks up textures and forces them to retreat. we need to be able to make all textures just flow right into and beneath water. big one here: firmness........still 3 settings, but now they are just closer together than ever.......
the good: splines (yes, makes both lists) can't praise them enough, learn the in's and outs and they are good for everything except greens, and even still, useful for greens, very useful for heavy fringe areas. weather settings, good improvement over tgc1 weather settings advanced edit, while not working as well as i had hoped it would, its still a big welcome over not having it at all, makes many things possible that were not before, many things, think outside the box here. multi level water, yes, we needed this pretty bad, especially the rcr guys new building selection, greatly needed, greatly, now we dont have to look at the same 3-5 clubhouses everywhere, there is now a near infinite amount of new buildings if you can learn how to mix and match them into real unique buildings, adds some freshness to our backgrounds. snap tool inside advanced edit for fencing items,......TIME SAVER, big time. QUALITY CONTROL, big time, when used, you cant screw up the flow of that fence, it does it perfectly for you in an instant. just keep in mind the curves and be sure to use smaller pieces if you can during curves. multiple tees and pins........huge upgrade here over tgc1, it just sucks we can't fully utilize this with the way societies handle tournaments.
these come to mind first for me, im sure i missed a zillion craps and gems here, but....it is what it is.
in a perfect world........ya......but we dont live in a perfect world....

I know a lot of people have crashes, believe me I did as well in 1, but it's stable as sh%$ for me know.
I love it now, works like a charm.

Taste, I found a way to get at least one texture under the water. While I haven't found a way to customize it, you can get heavy rough below it. It's kind of hard to explain with words so I'll get in the designer later and create a step by step guide, or something like that.

Aside from the crashes I think nearly everything is better in the designer. Sculpting alone is a massive improvement.

I specifically miss the ability to cycle through objects and textures with the shoulder buttons. Doesn't make any sense to why they removed that

I'm with scarpacci, after designing a highly-liked course just before TGC1 ended, I was so excited to begin a TGC2 course. Well, I can't seem to spend any time in the designer without issues, and when you add that to the problems I'm having just playing the game, they've effectively removed me as a player AND designer. As a point of reference, I'm on XB1 that has just 2 games on it, so my system only has 22% of the memory being used. It's certainly not overloaded.
